Television advertisements have a colossal impact on our culture. This paper entitled "Television advertisements and its impact on Culture" explores both its positive and negative impact on culture. While advertisements open new avenues of living patterns, they creatively impose obsessive consumption, cosmetological colonization and consumerism. Young girls and boys are infatuated with modern brands of goods and culturally opt to be freaky, inspired by trendy ads. The attractive quality of ads is manipulative in intent and this paper is an attempt to focus on the impact of television advertisements and the resultant culture shock among the Indian children and youth. It will further throw light on the changing trends in relationships along with the disunity and distance in the home caused due to advertisements. It also explores questions like-what kind of impact are the advertisements creating? Do advertisements really matter? Do they alter relationships? What images do they create?

One Part Woman is a powerful rendering of an entire milieu which is certainly still in existence, which it engages with insightfully. The author handles myriad complexities with sophistication, creating an evocative, even haunting, work. The novel is also acutely sensitive in its approach toward gender and sexuality and humane in its treatment of longing. While fundamentally an emotional work, driven by personal desires and losses, it also unsettles the reader with what it frankly reveals about simplistic ideas about progressiveness. The society in which the book is set in is permissive in ways that the urban middle-class in the same state at large is not, even though known markers of suppression, such as caste laws, hold sway. But, here as elsewhere, the true hindrances to happiness and progress come in much more personal forms.

The present paper is an attempt to cull out the ground reality the livelihood pattern of non literate women in the Tiruchirappalli City Corporation. In this article the author highlights the significance of the research problem by way of using various parameters like to study the occupational style, to find out their savings and expenditure pattern from their income, to identify the sources of their basic amenities and comforts of study area. A person's livelihood refers to their "means of securing the basic necessities-food, water, shelter and clothing-of life". An illiterate person is a burden to society as he consumes national wealth but contributes nothing to nation. Socrates philosophy quotes " Woman once made equal to man becomes his superior ". Women build about half of the population of the country, but their situation has been depressing. The poor people are not affording education to their children because of the poverty. In this paper the above mentioned three different definitions are combined and made an empirical verification in the Tiruchirappalli City Corporation in three wards by way of personal interview method with the help of structured and well defined interview schedule.

State income, Per capita income of the state, and the sectoral income are the major contributors of the state's development. The State domestic product is a yardstick adopted to measure the overall growth of the economy. The estimate of State income measures the volume of all goods and services produced within the geographical boundaries of the state during a year and throws light on the overall effect of different development of activities in the various sectors of the economy. A Structural Analysis of the state's income throws light on the fact that there have been structural changes in the economic set up of the state. As the economy develops dependence on agriculture is reduced. This is due to the remarkable progress of subsequent sectors like Secondary and Tertiary. The sectoral composition gives an idea of the relative position of different sectors in the economy, therefore this paper focuses on growth and the structure of Tamil Nadu economy. When the growth performance of the three sectors is seen the growth of primary sector has declined for the whole period as compared to Secondary and Tertiary sectors. The growth of the secondary sector is stagnant, as the Tertiary sector has grown tremendously after the second generation reforms. The introduction of the economic reforms particularly, the second generation reforms has made the economy more service oriented. The sectoral analysis also reveals that there is an unbalanced growth in the different sectors of Tamil Nadu economy. Thus unless the primary and secondary sectors are given importance the real growth is untenable.
