Retail operations of supermarkets chains, hold a very important position in supply networks due to the dominant position that retailers hold in the downstream supply chains. Current literature agrees that there are less works on his area. The present study is a second flagship study, investigating branch network variables. Using a mixed research design (descriptive and exploratory) the study employed hoteling’s, retail location to establish the relationship between branch location and branch network expansion. The study used a sample size of 300 respondents in supermarket retail operations. With a response rate of 61%, the findings reveal that branch location is significantly related to branch network expansion and that supermarket retailers should ensure that good locations were identified through different search methods lowering distribution costs. Ideal locations were identified to be in malls and next to distribution centers. The study results propose that branch location is a ...

The increasingly competitive contemporary business environments demands that companies’ brand management teams create differentiation in the way they communicate to consumers to make their brands stand out of competition, while ensuring that the brand communications and the intended messages reach the right target group. While brand management theories have espoused the benefits of building strong brand identity there is still a paucity of empirical evidence to support theory. The study adopts the quantitative social survey research approaches and utilizes a sample of 214 insurance entities, the study validates a three-dimensional service brand identity measurement scale applicable to the Kenyan insurance sector and establishes that the three service brand ident...

The purpose of this study was primarily based on finding out the factors which affect the security of inventory held by clearing and forwarding companies in Nairobi County. The study employed a descriptive survey research design. Questionnaires were used as instruments for collecting data from the warehouse employees. Data analysis was done using descriptive statistics after data cleaning and coding. Results of data analysis were presented using frequency distribution tables, bar graphs and pie charts. Multiple regression analysis revealed that external inventory security practices and internal inventory security practices had significant positive effects on safety performance, whereas inventory security procedural practices had a significant positive effect on the level of security measures. Similarly, the findings indicated that outsourcing of all inventory security practices attracted a significant number of firms as the primary strategy for dealing with any shortage challenges. Equally most of the firms used perimeter fences, alarm systems, record keeping and stock marking activity to manage their security inventory requirements. This research contributes to the body of the existing literature. Specifically, it will inspire managers in the clearing and forwarding industry to develop appropriate strategies on how to manage warehouse security in their organisations effectively. The study will provide an opportunity for the management to resolve the issues at the initial stages. Key words: Inventory security, warehouse security practices, supply chain security management, computerized stock documentation and logistics function.

Leadership is described as "a process of social influence in which a person can enlist the aid and support of others in the accomplishment of a common task".
