Academically: Dr Wildman has worked as a tutor and guest/lecturer at UQ, Griffith Uni, QUT, SCU and IMC.
Careerwise: From Manpower Planning Officer he became deputy Commissioner for Training and subsequently Director (Labour Market) Employment and Training Programs (1989-1993) for the Department of Employment and Training Queensland. Then becoming Lecturer (Social Science) Southern Cross University 1998-2001 developing the then only on-line Masters in Futures Studies Course in the world. Subsequently he served as Manager New Apprenticeship Centre and subsequently as Director KIDS Pty/Ltd. 2001-present he and co-director wife Annette, specialising in Early Childhood Learning, and Adult Learning Development. Publications: publishes the eZine CRAFT, three books, 4 CD’s, 65 articles inc. contributed chapters (many refereed). He is interested in cycle riding (bi-cycle and motor-cycle), healthy diet, bush mechanic/artificer/practical engineering exemplar, by building a boat & trailer & outfitting a tow truck (4years), presenting papers and workshops thereon demonstrating today that change towards a better world tomorrow, is possible.
Paul is deeply involved in Futures and with Dr Dick formed the Brisbane Hot Futures Circle some 16years ago. We continue to meet and discuss futures issues and support one anothers futures praxis. As part of his deep futures interests he is actively involved in 'spiritual' or as he calls them 'soulual' esp. the overlap between Christianity and Wicca, as well as indigenous religious paths and ways of knowing.

Here we explore the possibilities and potential of old made new again. Today we often hear the term ”futuring” used to refer to bringing proactive concrete responses to futures issues into present-day operation. This article sees such a process as a post industrial form of what in times of old was called ”artificing”, and then seeks to explore some aspects of this Middle Age precursor to today technician. The article examines important aspects of today's ”artificer” such as rebraiding thinking and doing and explores how this can be codified in futuring's ”exemplar projects” or the artificers ”master piece”. The Artificer Learner still surviving, though only just, is today called a ”bush mechanic” and is then situated with various types of action learning. This renewed approach is found to be suitable to certain particular present day challenges that derive from the global problematique are explored. A small town in South-Western Queensland is used as a case study over a five year period and key issues are identified which can assist small towns to help themselves revitalise.
