EU policy can consider and include EU-LAC-MUSEUMS project findings. A great deal can be achieved in and through community-based museums, as distinguished from mainstream museums often associated with certain demographics and funding structures that receive state attention and support. Community-based museums offer a lens through which to interrogate both macro and micro, global and local relations. Community-based museums are often under-represented in policy directions, and yet our research findings demonstrate that social engagement and pro-active strategies advanced through these entities have the potential to challenge and enhance existing EU policy that seeks to contribute to development in Latin America and the Caribbean, making it more relevant and sustainable for the future. A partir de la identificación de dimensiones de sostenibilidad, tanto en los ámbitos museológicos como del desarrollo, se encuentran afinidades epistémicas respecto a lo que representa la sostenibilidad para los museos y las comunidades en un plano más amplio. Se analiza cómo museos de pequeña escala, con aciertos y limitaciones, aportan a la sostenibilidad y desarrollo de la comunidad a la que pertenecen. Mediante la caracterización y análisis de tres casos de estudio en la Región de los Ríos, Chile, se identifican dimensiones sinérgicas que desde lo empírico aportan a la discusión teórica sobre la sostenibilidad y valores relacionales como la colaboración, reciprocidad y pertinencia. espanolEl presente articulo reporta los principales resultados obtenidos al evaluar los servicios turisticos ofrecidos por los museos universitarios en Valdivia, segun visitantes en temporada estival. Sus objetivos fueron categorizar al visitante que ingreso y utilizo los servicios de los museos, determinar sus caracteristicas socio-demograficas y establecer un analisis en base a la evaluacion de las dimensiones: alrededor del museo, interior del museo, personal de atencion, estacionamiento, museografia, banos, areas de recepcion y folleteria, como expresion del grado de satisfaccion de los visitantes. El estudio consistio en recopilar informacion relevante de forma cuantitativa, a traves de una encuesta de satisfaccion. Se realizaron 640 encuestas distribuidas en dos museos: 350 en el Museo Historico y Antropologico Mauricio Van de Maele y 290 en el Museo de la Exploracion Rudolph Amandus Philippi, durante el mes de febrero de 2017, mes de mayor demanda turistica. Purpose. The presentation of a model of integrated territory management through creating of interpreting centres which take into account the results of research in the domain of archeology, ethnography and history. Interpretive units constitute the consolidation of a multidisciplinary approach, designed from a complex consisting of nature, culture and social actors. The valorization and use of these interpretive units and its various components are constructed from the existing knowledge, which comes from various research in archeology and ethnography, the ancestral wisdom and the use of collections and material goods that are part of the heritage protected by the Austral University through the Directorate of Museums. Findings. Interpretation of local heritage of indigenous community. Study and conclusions limitations. The case study concerns only tourists and inhabitatnts of Millahuapi. Practical implications.
