The present study includes selected conditions of adaptation to the school. The research question focused on different predictors of sense of acceptanceand self-esteem and a sense of exclusion. The study involved 270 children aged 8-12. Data were collected twice using two tools: a questionnaire SUSPO and QSL. The results showed dynamic processes and differences occurring in the first and the second period of primary education and the opportunity to create conditions for a successful learning environment by the teacher

Background: Schizophrenia is considered a chronic and disabling mental disorder that affects approximately one percent of the world’s population. It is characterized by a variable course and its various symptoms may predominate depending on the characteristics of the person. Aim: Recognition of the personality traits and styles of stress-coping applied by healthy people and people diagnosed with schizophrenia. Methods: The study examined 60 people in total: 30 healthy people between 19 and 58 years old and29 people diagnosed with schizophrenia and 1 person with schizophrenia spectrum disorder between 25 and 72 years old. In the present study we used Personality inventory NEO-FFI by Paul Costa and Robert McCreae, designed to diagnose personality traits described in the five-factor model called “The Big Five” and CISS: Coping Inventory for Stressful Situations by N. S. Endler, J. D. A. Parker, designed to diagnose stress-coping styles.

The subject of the research is the principle of cultural conformity. The object of the research is education in general and professional teacher training in particular. The aim of the research is to reveal the multidimensional understanding of the cultural onformity principle and its applying in the modern education system. The cultural conformity principle is analyzed in the research in terms of functional, social, cultural and system approaches. From the functional perspective, this principle is treated as the method to eliminate cross-cultural barriers and resolve cognitive issues. Social and cultural approach highlighted the importance of cultural conformity principle, its cultural, social and personal characteristics when laying the groundwork for harmonious collaboration. The research has made it possible to build a systematic typology of goal-setting and definition of the objectives for teachers to apply this method in learning. The system approach focuses on presenting educa...

From a socio-ecological perspective, individuals are influenced by the interplay of individual, relational, and societal factors operating as a broader system. Thereby, to support youth adjustment during the critical adolescence period, the interplay between these factors should be investigated. This study aimed to investigate cross-cultural differences in adolescents’ maternal and paternal attachment, adolescents’ adjustment difficulties and self-control, and in their association. N = 1000 adolescents (mean (M) age = 16.94, SD = 0.48; 45.90% males) from China, Italy, Spain, and Poland participated by completing self-report measures. Results showed cross-country similarities and differences among the considered variables and their associative pattern. Moreover, conditional process analysis evaluating the association between maternal vs. paternal attachment and adjustment difficulties, mediated by self-control, and moderated by country, was performed. Maternal attachment directly, an...

This chapter describes how biopsychosocial conditioning is a dynamic functional structure which included definitive aspects of health, somatics, social aspects, psychological parameters and spiritual health. The approach of the authors to include health and disease in terms of a system that governs the specific principles. The systems such as the human body and human psyche are open and relatively autonomous. Openness enables new factors, stimuli, information and experience to be introduced into the system, but also entails the risk of introducing harmful influences on health and psychosocial statuses. Autonomy and awareness of psychological structures are linked to the ability to control the biopsychosocial state. The conviction of exercising such control is a source of the sense of security.

The experiences of women regarding conception, the birth of the first child, and care of an infant in the perinatal period have long attracted the attention of researchers, but the knowledge about the experiences of men entering the role of fathers for the first time is still insufficient. The aim of the research was to identify the level of satisfaction with life, emotions and identity formation of first-time parents depending on the gender and age of the child. Seventy-five pairs of Polish first-time parents participated in the study. The research used the SUPIN scale (Polish adaptation of Positive and Negative Affect Schedule), the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS), the Dimension of Identity Development Scale (DIDS), and a questionnaire prepared by the authors. On the basis of the conducted research, it can be concluded that there is a similarity of satisfaction with life, experienced emotions, and identity processes of first-time mothers and fathers, as well as the importance ...

The article presents the results of research on chosen symptoms and situational determinants of the “success at school” of a primary school pupil. It was assumed that for a child to adapt to the challenges posed by school the following factors were important: a sense of acceptance, a sense of support, a sense of social exclusion and the ability to assess one’s own achievements. The study involved 173 children from grades 2 to 5. Data were collected twice using three tools: SPAS questionnaire (Matějcek, Vagnerova, 1992), SUSPO (Miksik, 2004) and QSL authoring tool. The results show: 1) the role of subjective conditions and their changes over time, 2) the role of the climate in educational environment, and 3) the prospect for the optimization of and increase in the effectiveness with which children adapt to school in the first period of learning

Główny problem pracy dotyczy wzajem nych oddziaływań występujących między percepcją postaw rodzicielskich przez do rastających, a ich zachowaniami agresyw nymi. Badaniami objęto 86 dorastających (56 dziewcząt i 30 chłopców) w wieku 1719 lat. W badaniach wykorzystano kwes tionariusz percepcji postaw rodzicielskich oraz kwestionariusz zachowań agresyw nych. Analiza porównawcza zebranych danych dostarczyła podstaw do sformu łowania ważnego wniosku: Większość do rastających, którzy percypują postawy rodzicielskie jako niewłaściwe przejawia podwyższony poziom agresji.

The human lifespan is gradually being prolonged with the progress in healthcare and increasingly more commonly followed healthy lifestyle as well as by the many opportunities of keeping the body in good physical condition. The population of persons reaching an advanced age in life is also growing (Straś-Romanowska, 2011) as is the number of persons facing the problem of redefining themselves and their own physical activity after having reached the end of their working life and going on retirement (ibid.). One of the challenges arising at this time is adapting to a greater amount of free time which so far was taken up by work, and organising ones personal resources and milieu so that they may be conducive to physical and psychological health (Steuden, 2011). Many research findings have reported that the undertaking of various types of activity by elderly persons which, to a certain extent, replace their work duties, determine a successful adaptation to the ageing process (Grzanka-Tyk...
