Summary Prosopis farcta (Fabaceae) is a native and common perennial weed plant in Iran. In search of environmental-friendly control methods against P. farcta, we discovered the seed feeder moth Nephopterygia austeritella (Lepidoptera; Pyralidae) in central Iran and studied its bioecology for the first time from 2008 through 2009. Infestation pattern, larval feeding behaviour, developmental period, seasonal occurrence and the adverse impact of the moth on the reproductive organs of P. farcta were investigated. Diagnostic morphological characters of the fifth larval instar of N. austeritella are provided. Two gregarious ectoparasitoids were reared and identified as Apanteles subcamilla and Phanerotoma leucobasis (Hymenoptera: Braconidae). Mortality rates of the larvae were 3.03 and 13.44% in 2008 and 2009, respectively. Larvae destroyed 29.6-38.4% of the pods of their host plants. The potential of N. austeritella as an efficient biological control agent in IPM programs against P. farc...

This study was conducted to collect and identify ichneumonid parasitoids of tephritid fruit flies (Diptera: Tephritidae) feeding on the plants of the family Asteraceae in the northwest of Iran during 2013-2015. Five species of ichneumon wasps on five species of fruit flies were reared. They were as follows: Cremastus lineatus on Urophora terebrans; Diadegma maculatum on Hypenidium robrowskii; Scambus brevicornis on Sphenella marginata, Scambus rufator on Terellia gynacochroma and Urophora sp. and Tranosema sp. on Tephritis sp. dioscurea group. Of them, Cremastus lineatus, S. rufator and Tranosema sp. are new records for ichneumonid fauna of Iran. All host-parasitoid-plant associations were newly established to the science. General distribution of these parasitoids and their biological associations were discussed.

In this study, the taxonomy and species diversity of parasitois wasps of Pimpliformes and Ichneumoniformes (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae) were investigated in the some areas of Yazd province (Zarkoeih, Manshd, Bahabad, Dehert and Totiabad) in 2015. The specimens were collected using Malaise traps. Two Malaise traps were placed in each locality in a distance of about 50-100 meters from April to September. Specimens were extracted from the Malaise traps once in every two weeks. In the study of species diversity, species Mesoleptus sp. Of Cryptinae (Ichneumoniformes) family with 24 individuals (%13/28) had the highest frequency, and the Manshad region had the greatest diversity. A total, Pimpliformes group 13 species belonged to 9 genera and three subfamilies, and Ichneumoniformes group 16 species belonged to 12 genera and two subfamilies were collected and identified. Of these, all species, except the two species of Diplazon laetatorius (Fabricius, 1781) and Cryptus nr.inculcator (Linna...
