EMF physics and bioelectromagnetism are not easy subjects to be understood and appreciated by secondary schools students and teachers in general face difficulties in finding the right teaching approach and building a real interest in the subject. In this scenario, our work represents an attempt to develop a teaching method, alternative to standard class lectures, leading to the full comprehension of the subject and to the rising of a true interest in pupils. The proposed teaching strategies are based on ad hoc tools and a school contest. The tools have been designed as small exhibition stands where students can experiment, touch and collect information regarding EMF. Most of the tools are constantly exhibited in the Marconi Museum of Villa Griffone, in Pontecchio Marconi, but they have been projected to be easily portable for local interventions in schools.

Furthermore, the ability to cover larger areas with the same power levels and the need for providing broadband access to digital divide areas is currently one of the major issues in the field of wireless communications. To cope with market needs, and

The ever increasing demand for multimedia wireless communication systems is a key feature of more advanced markets. The buzzword of personal communications, meant to provide "access to anyone, anywhere, at anytime" to the wanted service, implies that spectrum demands are dramatically increasing in most developed markets. To cope with these needs, and in order to exploit the released spectrum resulting from the Digital Switchover, the last World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-07) allocated on a co-primary basis the upper part of the UHF band to mobile services as from 2015. This will cause potentially harmful mutual interference between TV and mobile radio services, that needs to be carefully analyzed. In this paper we present a study of the co-channel interference problem, proposing a methodology to take into account the mutual interference between a LTE mobile network and a DVB-T system and highlighting the different behaviour of the two radio links.

ABSTRACT The cellular layout of a mobile radio system has an impact on its performance (in terms of both coverage and capacity) as well as on its economical and environmental sustainability in terms of power consumption and of exposure of population to electromagnetic field. In this paper we study different cellular coverage strategies to identify which solutions better meet the constraints on the above mentioned parameters. Both an idealized, 2D case and a more detailed urban layout case are considered in the work: in the latter case a 3D ray tracing tool is used as propagation model. Generally, a trade-off is required to reach the best performance in terms of radio coverage, system throughput and energy efficiency.

From statistical models for urban propagation, an analytical formulation can be obtained to characterise RT asymptotic properties. The formation is exploited to develop an empirical model to speed-up simulation times

ABSTRACT This paper summarizes the research work on the study and deterministic modelling of multi-dispersive urban radio propagation, we had the great privilege to carry out in collaboration with Professor Pertti Vainikainen. The story of the collaboration is depicted in the introduction, while the major achievements of the work are shortly described in the following sections.
