The present work shows the potential of the utilization of integrated hydrological analisys systems for the plaiming and taking decision in water resources management. A Decision Support System - DSS - was used and new tools were developed as they were needed throughout the work. The Sao Francisco river basin was used as a case study. Several simulations were performed using the potential of the system related to the integrated simulation models and data obtaintion through Geographic Information Systems - GIS. The ways of integration between GIS softwares and specific water resources softwares are described and highlighting benefits like the easiness of use, the speed up ofthe processes and the augumation ofaccuracy in the results.
