The activity was carried out in Assosa, Homosha and Bambasi districts of Assosa zone of Benishang... more The activity was carried out in Assosa, Homosha and Bambasi districts of Assosa zone of Benishangul Gumuz regional state as Large-scale demonstration activity in 2019/2020 cropping season. The demonstration was done in eight kebeles by involving 158 male headed and7 Female headed households. The average age of participant farmers in sorghum technology large-scale production and promotion was 30to 45 years with mean farming experience 30- 40 years, which show that they are active age for agricultural production, enabling them to understand new technologies. All participant farmers share between 0.125 and 1 hectares of land to establish cluster form. Totally, 126 hectares of land established for cluster based large-scale demonstration purpose. Then training were given for 165 farmers, 24 Regional, Woreda experts, and DA’s involve on all agronomic practice like ploughing, sowing, fertilizer application, weeding, harvesting, threshing and storing were given in an interdisciplinary team ...
This investigation was done at Wombera and Pawe study areas of Metekel zone of Benishangul-gumuz ... more This investigation was done at Wombera and Pawe study areas of Metekel zone of Benishangul-gumuz regional state, western Ethiopia, with the aim of determine the bee spacing and cell dimensions and recommended an appropriate bee spacing and cell dimension for Apis mellifera scutellate. Wombera and Pawe study areas were selected to represent highland and lowland agro-ecologies respectively. The measurement of bee space, cell diameter, cell depth, comb thickness and hive dimension were taken from 20 traditional hives at each agro-ecology by using caliper to 0.1mm accuracy. Collected data were analyzed in descriptive statistics, correlation and General Linear Model (GLM) procedures using statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) software. The current study overall mean results of bee space, cell depth, cell diameter and comb thickness were 16.5±0.5mm, 10.4±0.06mm, 4.68±0.03mm, and 19.9±0.14mm respectively. The aim of the study was to explore husbandry practices and egg production performance of exotic chicken in the study area. A cross-sectional systematic random survey of 34 households was undertaken by using semi-structured and pre tested questionnaire. Information on management practices (breeding, feeds, feeding, watering, housing, sanitation, disease and parasite control etc.), production systems, egg production performances (egg size, , age at first lay, number of eggs laid etc) and constraints of exotic chicken kept in Assosa town was generated by semi-structured questionnaire. The primary data collected from household survey was processed and analyzed by using statistical package for social science (SPSS) version 20.0 software.
