She has pursued research and has taught as Assistant and Contract Professor in History of Architecture and Industrial Design at the Universities of Venice and Udine.
She has conducted several studies on architecture and Italian architects of the Twentieth century, published in catalogs and monographs, such as:
Italia Anni Trenta (Milano 1989); Storia dell’Arte italiana (ed. Carlo Bertelli, Milano 1992); Storia dell’architettura italiana. Il primo Novecento (ed. Giorgio Ciucci, Giorgio Muratore, Milano 2004); Daniele Calabi ( a cura di Donatella Calabi e Guido Zucconi, Venezia 1992); Giuseppe Terragni (ed. Giorgio Ciucci, Milano 1996); Marcello D’Olivo architetto (Milano 2002); Pietro Lingeri (ed. Chiara Baglione, Elisabetta Susani, Milano, 2004).
Since 1986 she has worked continuously (publishing essays, articles, and reviews ) for the magazines «Casabella», «Domus», «Annali di architettura» .
In addition to the architecture of the twentieth century, her research interests are focused on French architecture of the 17th century, the topic subject of her two Ph.D. thesis and of the scholarship obtained from the CCA-Canadian Center for Architecture, Montréal.
Excerpts of research results have been published in Annali di Architettura, CISA-Centro Internazionale Studi Andrea Palladio of Vicenza, see Avon, Annalisa, «La biblioteca, gli strumenti scientifici, le collezioni di antichità e opere d’arte di un architetto del XVII secolo, Jacques Le Mercier», Annali di architettura, 8 (1996): 179-196; «A proposito di alcuni esempi di scultura e architettura antica nel Parallèle (1650) di Roland Fréart de Chambray e Charles Errard», Annali di architettura, 13 (2002): 111-119;
Finally, she published a book concerning the subject, that is Rinascere antichi, 2017 (https://www.amazon.it/Rinascere-antichi-Larchitettura-relazioni-Seicento-ebook/dp/B01M3XFC3Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1496733704&sr=8-1&keywords=annalisa+avon)
She devoted a few studies and at least three books to the architectural history and the architects of her birth town, Pordenone, that is to say Cesare Scoccimarro (1897-1953): trent'anni di architettura, disegno industriale e arredo d'interni, Udine 2013; Cesare Scoccimarro nell'architettura italiana del Novecento, conference proceeding, Udine 2014, and more recently Architettura e città. Il testo ripercorre la storia del progetto e della
costruzione della chiesa di Nôtre-Dame dell’Assomption
(1670-1676) a Parigi. Disegni e documenti
d’archivio noti, o inediti, permettono di
ricostruire la vicenda, con riferimento alla tradizione
architettonica francese, oltre che italiana,
dalle prime ipotesi sino alla realizzazione dell’edificio.

In order to understand the reasons of Gio Ponti's work, one should refer to his activities in the twenties and thirties, when the opposition between «traditionalists» and «moderns» was developing for the definition of new Italian architecture. «Style» and «taste», words that took up different meanings to the person using them, constitute for Gio Ponti an effective formula to express a calm renewal. His houses, models of the new taste, propose therefore a language equidistant from modernity and the most explicit recoversie of traditio.

It concerns the projects conceived by Gino Valle (1923-2003) for the Italian brand Zanussi, once based in Pordenone, a factory producing electrical household appliances, as washing machines, refrigerators and (in a sort of experimental way) also televisions.

The book 'Gio Ponti. Ideario per la casa' (which will be released in August 2024) addresses the topic of housing. The book considers Ponti's position in the European and Italian context of the Decorative Arts, in the 1920s. Furthermore, it considers his contribution to the theme of the home and furnishings starting from the 1930s, without forgetting the Italian political situation.

This conference was a mid-time compte rendu of my research at Montrèal CCA-Canadian Centre for Architecture, established by Phillis Lambert and directed by Kurt Forster. I had a grant as a resident scholar for the program Baroque beyond Rome, for which I proposed as topic XVII century French architecture. I studied the subject for my PhD dissertation in History of Architecture at the IUAV
