In contrast to the 1st and 2nd centuries, diplomas for praetorian soldiers became very frequent in the 3rd century. There are 13 new diplomas published here from the decades between Septimius Severus and Philippus Arabs; 16 diplomas from the time of Severus Aexander are excluded, which are published elsewhere. There are five diplomas of Septimius Severus, one of Caracalla, two each of Maximinus Thrax and Philippus Arabs; for three diplomas, the emperor cannot be determined. On the outside of a diploma the text for a praetorian is engraved, and on the inside, for the soldiers of one of the Italian fleets.

The direct-acting antiviral regimen of ombitasvir (OBV)/paritaprevir (PTV)/ritonavir (r) ± dasabuvir (DSV) ± ribavirin (RBV) demonstrated high rates of sustained viral response at post-treatment week 12 (SVR12) in clinical trials for treatment of hepatitis C virus (HCV) genotypes (GT) 1 and 4. To confirm the effectiveness of this regimen in the real world, we conducted meta-analyses of published literature on 30 April 2016. Freeman-Tukey transformation determined the SVR rate within GTs 1a, 1b, and 4, as well as specific SVR rates by cirrhosis or prior treatment experience status. Rates of virologic relapse, hepatic decompensation, drug discontinuation, and serious adverse events were also analyzed. In total, 20 cohorts across 12 countries were identified, totaling 5,158 patients. The overall SVR12 rates were 96·8% (95% CI 95·8 - 97·7) for GT1 and 98·9% (95% CI 94·2 - 100) for GT4. For GT1a patients, the SVR rates were 94% and 97% for those with or without cirrhosis, and 94% overall...

A total of thirteen fragments of diplomata militaria are published. They date from the period between Domitian and Commodus: one each from the reign of Domitian, Nerva, Trajan and Commodus, and two each from the reign of Pius, Marcus Aurelius and Lucius Verus. But five alone date back to Hadrian, including the first he issued for the army of Egypt. There are two each for the troops of Moesia inferior and Pannonia superior, one each for Dacia inferior, Aegyptus and either for an Italian fleet or the Praetorians. Six more are for auxiliary troops, but remain unknown for which province.

Abstract: Four diploma fragments from the vicinity of the auxiliary fort of Stein‑St. Pantaleon in Noricum are published. One shows the governor Baius Pudens in 162, the second dates from the time of Antoninus Pius or Marcus Aurelius, two others cannot be dated more precisely. Also mentioned is the cohors IIII Tungrorum vexillatio, the second part of which is stationed at the same time in Raetia. There is a discussion of the history of this unit. A cohors II Tungrorum vexillatio, whose unit number was restored in CIL XVI 94, never existed

Initial hypothesis of this investigation using Xray-fluorescence analysis (pRFA) was that expected changes in the metal alloy composition of bronze Roman military diplomas over time might serve as chronologic reference for other Roman archaeological objects made of bronze such as coins, tabulas, military objects, statues etc. Military diplomas – citizenship documents for non-citizens serving in the Roman military in auxiliary units – seemed most suitable for this, as they were all manufactured in Rome, and dated by month and day and through two consuls. The analysis of more than 500 Military diplomas showed however that there were no major changes in alloy composition over the 200 years investigated, from c 60–260 AD. Rather the manufacturers kept the bronze alloy constantly in a narrow range of 8+ % tin and above 20 % lead. This functional lead bronze alloy must have been chosen to optimize the mass production process for the metal plates, which are usually between 0.5–2 mm thin, and to allow engraving of the diploma text on both sides of the plates. This continuity was kept up by the imperial administration regardless of cost throughout multiple crises into the middle of the 3rd century AD (with exception of a short period of about ten years during Marcus Aurelius’ reign in which no bronze diplomas were issued at all).

collection of 16 fragments of diplomas from the reigns of Hadrian and Antoninus Pius is published here. They are copies of constitutions for the armies of Dacia Porolissensis, Moesia inferior, Pannonia inferior and Syria as well as for unknown provinces. Some of the constitutions are already known, others are new. In any case, they intensify the records for the armies during the two periods of government.
