Incidence and prevalence of cancers differ in different regions of the world. To study the profile of different cancers in a particular cancer belt helps to know the exact incidence of different cancers in that region and their likely genealogy. The aim of this study was to analyze the incidence of different cancers in Kashmir valley. The paper will focus on the distribution of cancers, with particular emphasis on Lung cancer. Lung cancer is considered as the most fatal forms of cancer in recent years. The seven most common types of cancer in men were those of the esophagus, lungs, stomach, skin, upper respiratory tract, and urinary tract. Among the Kashmiri women the most common types of cancer were those affecting the esophagus, breast, cervix, stomach, skin, colon, rectum, and lungs. But among all these fatal types of cancers, Cancer of the lungs is the most frequent type in both sexes, accounting for 42.9% of all types of cancer in the valley. This distribution of cancer types is strikingly different from that in the rest of India where esophagus cancer is the most common form. Again, contrary to the trend in India as a whole, cervical cancer is not a leading type of cancer in the valley and is less frequent even than cancer of the breast in the women. The preponderance of lung cancer was attributable to the smoking, exposure to severe chemicals, poisonous industrial gases; Pattern of malignancies in valley is different from rest of the India. Lung, esophagus and Gastrointestinal malignancies are the commonest malignancies in Kashmir valley followed by prostate cancer in males and breast cancer in females.

Since the early middle ages, the perception of Islam in the west has been shaped by a mixture of ignorance, prejudice, fear and hostility. In western discourse, Islam has often been portrayed as a demonic religion of apostasy, blasphemy and obscurity. A set of the ideological, political and cultural factors, including the legacy of the crusades, confrontations with the Ottoman Empire, the ideology of white supremacy and European colonialism, have been responsible for this perception. The greatest stimulus to the academic interest in Islam in Europe, which began around the middle of the 18th century and gathered momentum in the second half of the 19th and early decades of the 20th century, came from orientalsim which was embedded in the historical, political and ideological context of European colonial expansion. During the colonial Era, the European powers sought to dominate and control a vast swathe of the Muslim world not only through conquest and violence and the colonial policy of the divide and rule and espionage but also through missionaries, the new education system and scholars and academics.

Karl Henrich Marx and Allama Iqbal are the two most illustrious philosophers. In Javednama Iqbal generously praises Marx, giving him the highest status that a person could aspire to, short of prophethood. “He is not a prophet but he holds a book under his arm,” says Iqbal about the author of Das Capital, which Iqbal calls the “bible of Socialism. Iqbal’s tribute is well deserved. Marx’s great life is permeated by boundless revolutionary optimism. He saw happiness as consisting in action and in struggle—a theme that resonates powerfully, as well, throughout Iqbal’s poetry. He staked everything on the progressive change that history fosters. He believed that change to alleviate the misery of the toiling masses is worth fighting and dying for. Selfless, unflagging struggle to emancipate society and the toilers of the world—that is the sum and substance of Karl Marx, the greatest revolutionary philosopher of the world. The paper will focus on the general thought of Marx and Marx’s influ...

Allama Mohammad Iqbal is regarded as one of the most original and influential thinkers of 20 th century. The distinct position that Iqbal occupies in the plethora of his contemporaries owes its origin to his expertise in eastern and western sciences alike supplanted by his Quranic comprehension. Though his philosophical or sociological dimensions are diverse however, they all seem to converge at his concept of selfhood, which are the launch pad as well as the hallmark of his message. Since man forms the prelude, interlude and conclusion of Iqbalian thought. This paper carries out an analysis of Iqbal's philosophy of selfhood, tracing the chain of events that led to its formulation and the multifaceted nature of this philosophy of selfhood. Moreover, the paper includes a brief discussion bringing forth the psychological dimensions and a comparative analysis of Iqbal's philosophy with those of western philosophers particularly that of Leibnitz and Nietzsche.
