In partial fulfillment of the course requirements for "Psalms in Depth," this essay is a post-critical and devotional exegesis of Psalm 51, with an emphasis on the themes of repentance and new creation. In particular, this essay is designed to show that Psalm 51 foreshadows the creation of New Humanity in Jesus's own flesh through the New Covenant.

In fulfillment of the requirements for "Pentateuch in Depth," this essay incorporates over ten articles from the _Dictionary of the Old Testament: Pentateuch_ and draws on material in _From Paradise to the Promised Land_ by T. Desmond Alexander.

The Christian canon (Hebrew Bible and New Testament) opens and closes with a vision of a world indwelled by God. The stories of the Pentateuch anticipate the New Testament message that God is restoring the world in and through Jesus by picturing the incarnation in Eden and the Tabernacle. In and through Jesus Christ, God has tabernacled with humanity and will one day make God's dwelling with humanity forever.

Open theism's concurrent emergence with the accessibility of the World Wide Web (the Web) has had a powerful impact on Open theism's reception as well has the spread of misinformation. In addition, the Web has also contributed to the fragmentation and dilution.

In this essay, T. C. Moore develops an evangelical Inclusivism in conversation with Clark Pinnock and in response to John Calvin's Exclusivism, Karl Rahner's Inclusivism, and John Hick's Pluralism. Three indispensable biblical axioms are defended and three pillars of a more plausible position are proposed.

How ambiguous is the Christian ethic toward war, violence, and militarism? Is it as unclear as Christian authors such as this would have us believe? Do the teachings of Christ, New Testament authors, the history of the Early Church, and the writings of early Church Fathers offer us a confusing picture? Or, is it actually possible to gather enough evidence from these sources to formulate a consistent, coherent nonviolent ethic? If successful, this work will advance the argument that these historical sources provide Christians with sufficient evidence to reconstruct the consistent and coherent nonviolent ethic of Christ and the Early Church regarding the subjects of war, violence, and militarism.

_Present Perfect_ is a challenging charge to believers. Rather than living as functional atheists, Greg Boyd exhorts Christians to wake up to the reality that each moment we are surrounded by the active love of God to whom we must submit our wills, by whom our lives are ascribes significance, and through whom we are empowered to serve others and reflect his glory.

In _The Uncontrolling Love of God_, Thomas Jay Oord (a prolific and well-known Wesleyan theologian) outlines his proposal for a better solution to the problem of evil with an Open and Relational theology called "Essential Kenosis" that carves out a middle way between voluntary divine self-limitation (Open theism) and divine providence as an impersonal sustaining force (Process theism). Oord proposes that God's sovereign will is constrained by God's nature of noncoercive love that never fails to give freedom/agency to others.

"Starting Points" is a three-part seminar for visitors, regular attenders, and members of New City Church of LA, exploring three questions about Christian faith: 1. Who is Jesus?; 2. Why did Jesus die?; 3. How can we trust the Bible?

In part two, "Why did Jesus die?" we explore the Atonement by discussing: 1. Theological Humility; 2. Biblical Background; 3. Jesus & the Atonement; and 4. What Does Atonement Mean For Us? Emphasis is given to many of the metaphors the New Testament uses to describe the meaning of Jesus's death on the Cross. Two distorted pictures and two theological constructions are also discussed.

John Piper holds to a form of Reformed theology known as New Calvinism. This view conceptualizes divine sovereignty as total, unilateral control of every event in history. Therefore, Piper has conclude that even cancer is a "gift" God "designs" for humanity. However, Piper recently wrote that cancer is an "enemy" of God. Cancer, then, has become a case-study in how New Calvinism makes God into God's own enemy.
