Volunteers Needed for the PPACG – Pikes Peak Area Agency on Aging

Colorado Springs, CO, October 15, 2024 – The El Paso County Board of Commissioners is seeking community-minded citizen volunteers to serve on Pikes Peak Area Council of Government – Pikes Peak Area Agency on Aging. Applications for the open position are due by November 1, 2024.

The Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments serves as the Area Agency on Aging for El Paso, Park and Teller counties and provides programs and services for older adults (60 and over) and their caregivers. The primary goal is to help older people live independently in their own homes. Funding for services comes through the federal Older Americans Act and the State of Colorado. A person must be 60 years of age or older to be eligible for a service provided by the Older Americans Act. Some exceptions apply for specific cases.

The purpose of the Commission is to advise and recommend to the PPACG Board of Directors and PPACG staff action on matters regarding the development of an area-wide system of advocacy and policy recommendations for older persons to enable them to maintain as much independence as possible.

The committee meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 3:00 p.m. Meetings are held at 14 S. Chestnut St.

Volunteers Needed for Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority Citizens Advisory Committee

El Paso County, CO, October 14, 2024 – The Board of El Paso County Commissioners and the Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority are seeking community-minded citizen volunteers to serve on the El Paso County PPRTA Citizens Advisory Committee. Applications for the open positions are due by October 31, 2024.

The Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority (PPRTA) Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) is currently seeking one member who is an El Paso County representative.

The Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority Board of Directors established at 17-member Citizens Advisory Committee to ensure that citizens are included as partners with the Board to ensure that the capital, maintenance and public transportation projects and programs approved by voters were accomplished.

The CAC consists of members appointed by the member governments: three each from Colorado Springs and El Paso County, two from Manitou Springs, and one each from Green Mountain Falls, Ramah and Calhan. Six at-large members and four alternate at-large members (who vote only when a regular member is absent) are appointed by the PPRTA Board of Directors.

El Paso County’s representation on the PPRTA Citizens Advisory Committee consists of three members appointed by the Board of County Commissioners for three-year terms with no term limits.

Committee meetings are currently being held on the first Wednesday of the month, 1:30pm at PPACG Offices at 14 S. Chestnut St.

Volunteers Needed for 4th Judicial District Community Corrections Authority

El Paso County, CO, October 14, 2024 – The Board of El Paso County Commissioners is seeking a community-minded citizen volunteer to serve on the 4th Judicial District Community Corrections Authority. Applications for the open position are due by October 31, 2024.

The 4th Judicial District Community Corrections Authority ensures a coordinated, effective, and efficient community corrections system within El Paso and Teller counties. The Authority is responsible for approving and administering contracts and allocating funds to provide community corrections services and facilities within the 4th Judicial District and advises the El Paso County Board of Commissioners on community corrections matters.

The 4th Judicial District Community Corrections Authority is comprised of three citizen-at-large representatives, which includes representation from El Paso and Teller counties. The citizen-at-large positions are appointed by and serve at the pleasure of their appointing Board of County Commissioners.

The Authority meets approximately six times a year in person with a virtual option, at the Justice Services office, 17 N Spruce Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80905.

The 4th Judicial District Community Corrections Authority is seeking one Citizen-at-large member.

Volunteers Needed for El Paso County Colorado State University Extension Advisory Committee

Colorado Springs, CO, October 11, 2024 – The El Paso County Board of Commissioners is seeking community-minded citizen volunteers to serve on the El Paso County Colorado State University Extension Advisory Committee. Applications for the open position are due by November 1, 2024.

The CSU Extension Advisory Committee is currently seeking several volunteers who represent the following:

  • Youth Development/4-H
  • Family and Consumer Science
  • Community at Large

The mission of the El Paso County Extension Advisory Committee is to promote, advocate, and support the County’s Cooperative Extension programs and staff by developing and implementing a strong marketing strategy that results in educating community officials and providing information flow between county citizens and CSU Extension.

The CSU Extension Advisory Committee consists of 11 members appointed by the Board of County Commissioners for three-year terms. Terms are limited to two full consecutive terms.

The committee meets on the first Tuesday in the months of February, April, September, and November at 6:00 p.m. Locations vary but meetings are typically held at the Extension Office, 17 N. Spruce St., Room 224, Colorado Springs, CO.

Volunteers Needed for El Paso County Board of Health

El Paso County, CO, October 7, 2024– The El Paso County Board of Commissioners is seeking community-minded citizen volunteers to serve on the El Paso County Board of Health. Applications for the open position are due by October 21, 2024.

The El Paso County Board of Health is the governing body for El Paso County Public Health. The Board of Health governs the agency through the establishment of policy, approval of budgets, and appointment of the public health director.

Regular Board meetings are typically held monthly on the fourth Wednesday of the month beginning at 8:30 a.m., followed by work or executive sessions when noted on the current month’s agenda.

Regular meetings are hosted on the first floor of the Citizens Service Center, unless otherwise indicated.

Meeting dates, times and meeting agendas are posted on El Paso County Public Health’s website at www.elpasocountyhealth.org. All meetings are open to the public.

The Board of Health is currently seeking one new member, who represents the non-profit, private, or public education sectors.

Volunteers Needed for El Paso County Planning Committee

El Paso County, CO, September 27, 2024 – The Board of El Paso County Commissioners is seeking community-minded citizen volunteers to serve on the El Paso County Planning Commission.

Applications are due by October 31, 2024.

The Planning Commission currently has vacancies for Associate members (terms are 1 year).

The Planning Commission consists of nine Regular members and up to five Associate members appointed by the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC). Regular members serve a term of three years. Associate members serve a term of one year. The Planning Commission duties include but are not limited to: developing and adopting a Master Plan, reviewing and acting upon amendments to the Master Plan, developing and adopting a Zoning Plan, reviewing and making recommendations to the BOCC on applications for land-use and zoning, and recommending or imposing reasonable conditions upon approvals of applications to the BOCC. Volunteers Needed for El Paso County Road Impact Fee Advisory Committee

Colorado Springs, CO, August 29, 2024 – The El Paso County Board of Commissioners is seeking community-minded volunteers to serve on the El Paso County Road Impact Fee Advisory Committee. Applications for the open position are due by October 31, 2024.

The Committee was created by the El Paso County Planning and Community Development Department and the Department of Public Works to provide recommendations to the Commissioners on the implementation of the unincorporated county-wide road impact fee program, in compliance with local, state, and federal laws. The Road Impact Fee website is: https://publicworks.elpasoco.com/road-impact-fees/.

The Advisory Committee consists of nine members. Membership is comprised of the following groups: three members of the development community, three county staff members, one representative of the Colorado Springs Housing and Building Association, and two citizens-at-large. Terms are for three years.

The board meets on the fourth Thursday of the month at 1:30, remotely only.

The Road Impact Fee Advisory Committee is seeking two Development Community Representatives and one Citizen at Large. The Representative of the Development Community shall represent the development community and own property or represent a party who owns property that is subject to the Fee Program. The Citizen at Large shall represent citizens of unincorporated El Paso County and live in or own property in El Paso County.

Volunteers Needed for El Paso County Pioneer Village Roads Public Improvement District Advisory Committee

El Paso County, CO, July 11, 2024 – The Board of El Paso County Commissioners is seeking community-minded citizen volunteers to serve on the Pioneer Village Roads Public Improvement District Advisory Committee. Applications for the open position are due by November 1, 2024.

The Pioneer Village Roads Public Improvement District Advisory Committee is currently seeking two (2) members,

In conjunction with the establishment of the El Paso County Pioneer Village Roads Public Improvement District, the Board of County Commissioners also created the El Paso County Pioneer Village Roads Public Improvement District Advisory Committee. The purpose of the Advisory Committee is to make recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners regarding the public improvements to be funded each year, the awarding of contracts, and the need to seek an increase of the maximum mill levy for the PID.

The Advisory Committee consists of five members. All members serve two-year or three-year terms. Terms are limited to two full consecutive terms.

Meetings are held as needed virtually.

Applicants must be taxpaying electors of the District for the duration of their appointment. To be a taxpaying elector, you must 1) be registered to vote in Colorado and 2) own, or your spouse or civil union partner must own, taxable or real personal property within the District. You do not need to reside within the District.
