DEGREE DETAILS

The BS degree in Information Technology is earned by completing the program course requirements of 120 credit hours. Of these credit hours, 63 credits are major or core courses, 42 general education credits, and 18 pure elective credits. Students must meet their core requirements as well as their general education requirements. In addition, students must meet the following criteria:

1. Students enrolled in the undergraduate program must maintain a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 2.0 out of 4.0 to qualify for the BA degree, to remain in good standing, and to graduate.
2. The Maximum Time Frame (MTF) for completion of the BA program is 180 credits.
3. An undergraduate student may transfer up to 60 credit hours earned at accredited institutions.
4. No degree credit is received by an undergraduate for any failing grade (a grade less than D, or 1.00 out of 4.00 grade points).

PROGRAM OUTCOMES

  1. Demonstrate proficiency in various aspects of information technology skills, including computer programming languages, computer network infrastructure, database management systems, cybersecurity principles, and software development.
  2. Examine technological problems and requirements for businesses to design and implement technology solutions using theoretical and practical applications of computing and mathematical knowledge.
  3. Integrate fundamental digital components and infrastructures to implement computing solutions, including standalone, web-based,
    and mobile applications.
  4. Communicate effectively orally and in writing with technical and non-technical stakeholders to professionally present articulate information and data literacy needs.
  5. Assess technical skills and knowledge to pursue various professional technology certifications globally recognizable in the industry such as Certified Professional in Python Programming, CompTIA – IT Fundamentals (ITF+), ISACA – Data Science Fundamentals, etc.
  6. Understand the role of responsible citizenship in the legitimate use of technology and digital data.

Students must earn a total of 120 college credit hours to receive this degree. Of these credit hours, 60 credits are core courses, 42 general education credits, and 18 elective credits. Students must meet their core requirements as well as their general education requirements.

In addition, students must meet the following criteria:
