Logistics for both of our workshops in Summer 2014

Lodging

The Brookwood Inn is an affordable hotel just off of Duke's campus near the Duke Hospital that we have used for several workshops that is a short walk to the Computer Science Building where the workshop will be held.

We will reserve the hotel rooms for the workshops in June/July 2014. We are paying for your room as long as you room with another teacher. If you want your own room, you will pay the first week and we will pay the second week (but we will still reserve the room in your name). For the two-week July workshop rooms are reserved from Sunday through Friday for each one week for 5 nights (unless you stated that you only needed four nights.) For the 4-day June workshop, rooms are reserved from Sunday through Thursday. If you are staying at the Brookwood, then you have to park your car at the Brookwood. Parking passes are only for commuters. We have to pay extra for the parking passes. From the Brookwood you can either walk or take the Brookwood shuttle.

  • Rate: $79/night plus tax [Note: If you share a room, we will pay for the hotel room. The rate is here for those who want their own room.]
  • Phone: 1-800-716-6401
  • Address: 2306 Elba Street, Durham NC 27705
  • website is brookwoodinn.com

You do not need to make a reservation since we are paying for your room. We will reserve the rooms. You should have received an email from Kathy Menchaca (menchaca AT cs.stanford.edu) about your roommate.

All workshops will be held in the Levine Science Research Center (LSRC) Room D106 at Duke University, from 8:30am-4pm (Monday-Thursday) and 8:30am-2:30pm on Friday (two-week workshop meets also on Fridays) The address of the building is 308 Research Drive, Durham, NC 27708.

NOTE: Parking passes for those commuting will be handed out between 8am and 8:20am on the first day of the workshop at the Bryan Center Parking Garage, where you will park. Please allow at least 20 minutes to pick up your parking pass, and walk to the LSRC D-wing building on the first day. The parking pass is good for one or two weeks. If you are staying at the Brookwood, you should park there for free and either walk or take the shuttle.
