Q5135228

[edit]

I'm not sure why you deleted the sitelink of Close To The Edge Provincial Park and Protected Area (Q5135228). The item was created for this park + protected area. Fralambert (talk) 03:59, 15 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Fralambert. FYI this is not my home Wiki. I prefer to work exclusively on English Wikipedia. Currently I'm working on en:Wikipedia:WikiProject History Merge. Many items needing history-merges have blocking redirects that need to be moved out of the way to enable the merge to proceed. There is no ideal and easy way to do this. My solution often is to temporarily delete the page, and then immediately restore everything except the blocking redirect edit(s). Unfortunately the blocking redirects cannot be selectively deleted, the entire page history must be deleted, and then the blocking redirects can be selectively not restored. This has the undesirable side effect of causing an automatic edit on Wikidata. These edits are not edits that I want to make. An abusive process is making these edits in my name. They are marked "(Tag: Automatic Update from Connected Wiki)". I have been advised at en:Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Fixing cut-and-paste moves#Bugs and problems to revert these automatic edits that are made in my name, and make me look bad. I was not expecting anyone to latch on to my bad edit and revert it within a couple minutes; this is the first time that has happened. In the same minute, where I reverted you, I thought that I was self-reverting. In other words, an edit conflict. Do you know any way I can prevent these automatic edits from happening? I wish this automatic process would wait five or ten minutes to make its edit, to be sure that the page was really being permanently deleted. Having to babysit this process on Wikidata makes an already tedious procedure even more tedious. Maybe if I were blocked from editing Wikidata that would stop this automatic process from making edits in my name? Wbm1058 (talk) 04:33, 15 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Ho, I did not now about this problem. I don't have solution, but you can had a text will reverting my revert, like « technical blanking for history cleanning », that will at least prevent a second revert. Have a nice day. Fralambert (talk) 12:10, 15 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
And when I forget to revert these automatic edits in a timely manner, another dumb bot creates a fork data item. Which I was kind enough to this project to report HERE (Paul Bennett and the one after that too). It would be nice if this stupid bot were made smart enough to revert my edit like you did, instead of creating a fork item. – Wbm1058 (talk) 13:09, 15 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
