I kinda see your point on the shortname templates
[edit]But kinda don't. I suggest you open up a discussion at WT:N/EC (you should also probably link to it from WT:N, as the page hasn't been actively used since shortly after it was first created). In this case, there isn't a category (though you could create one if you want), but it's a specific enough type of template that I don't think you should get any procedural objections. — PinkAmpers&(Je vous invite à me parler) 16:58, 2 April 2013 (UTC)

bug report
[edit]I'm not sure how this happened but it's a pretty severe malfunction. Cheers, Pichpich (talk) 19:16, 1 May 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you for your bug report. I will correct this as soon as possible.Thieol (talk) 19:55, 06 May 2013 (UTC)
- Just 1 uncorrected error. Ouf !. Everything is ok now.Thieol (talk) 20:20, 06 May 2013 (UTC)
sorry for delay
[edit]Hello, About Dexbot's bug. I fixed it a long time ago and I have written a code for fixing previous lapses (a long time ago, too) but toolserver had problems and my codes had been killed so many times before i decided to migrate to another server. I just migrated to wmflabs so now it's working and hopefully that will be done in a week or less. once again I'm really sorry Amir (talk) 16:09, 18 May 2013 (UTC)
Edition data
[edit]Hi Pichpich, please take a look to my last comments after the Hackathon, if that is an acceptable solution we should aim to close the RFC on June 15.--Micru (talk) 23:54, 30 May 2013 (UTC)
Dexbot is actually doing this task... --Ricordisamoa 06:03, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
- Just because one bot is doing something completely against the very foundation of Wikidata doesn't mean we need to authorize more. Pichpich (talk) 13:24, 31 May 2013 (UTC)

Please see my comment on Talk:Q865. Labeling this item "Taiwan" doesn't make sense in historical uses. --Yair rand (talk) 04:59, 20 June 2013 (UTC)

Golfer
[edit]Why do you clear this Q5997481 item? --Stryn (talk) 06:16, 11 July 2013 (UTC)
- It will get deleted and in the meantime it avoids the confusion with golfer (Q13156709). Pichpich (talk) 06:19, 11 July 2013 (UTC)

Report empty items to RfD
[edit]Hi Pichpich. Please be sure that when you empty an item during a merge that you report the empty item to RfD so that it can be deleted easily by admins. Thank you. Del♉sion23 (talk) 18:05, 17 July 2013 (UTC)
- Also, thank very much for your continued work, and great idea inspiring User:Byrial/countrymerge/fr-en! Del♉sion23 (talk) 18:08, 17 July 2013 (UTC)
- The problem is that merge.js is buggy and doesn't always complete the deletion request. It was my understanding that this doesn't really matter ultimately since empty items get deleted automatically regardless of whether or not they've been added to the deletion request page. If that's the case, it's more efficient to ignore the times where merge.js fails rather than to relist these manually. Pichpich (talk) 18:10, 17 July 2013 (UTC)
- Fair enough, I'm going through Byrial's French–English list right now merging correctly identified matches and have only noticed a few that failed to make it to RfD. Del♉sion23 (talk) 18:14, 17 July 2013 (UTC)
- Am I correct in guessing that you don't face the same problem because merge.js just deletes items directly when used from a sysop account? Pichpich (talk) 18:18, 17 July 2013 (UTC)

- Hmmm, it will stick on the last step right? What if you wait half an minute for request to delete to be done? Merge.js is retrying six times to bypass edit conflicts. –ebraminiotalk 19:40, 23 July 2013 (UTC)
- Actually, I do that but it still fails fairly often when I or others are also doing merge work. The problem is that when you work from Help:Merge lists and try to be efficient using navigation tabs or things of the sort, you end up sending merge requests at a fairly high rate. (see my three requests at 19:45 today for an example) Pichpich (talk) 19:44, 23 July 2013 (UTC)
- Hmmm. Anyway, you can use merge.js again if fails once. It will not have any side effect on items and I think it could be a little easier :) –ebraminiotalk 21:56, 23 July 2013 (UTC)

Nominated used items
[edit]Just a heads up. Some of the items you've nominated for deletion are still linked to other items and are thus still in use. For example Wikidata:Requests_for_deletions#Q5742593. Cheers Del♉sion23 (talk) 22:30, 22 July 2013 (UTC)
- Damn. Isn't merge.js supposed to take care of that? Or is this a merge.js bug? Pichpich (talk) 22:38, 22 July 2013 (UTC)
- I'm afraid merge.js doesn't do it yet :( maybe you could suggest it to the creators as a new feature? Del♉sion23 (talk) 22:40, 22 July 2013 (UTC)
- gaaaah... All apologies, it seemed so logical that I never bothered to check. I'll do my best to mop up then! Pichpich (talk) 22:42, 22 July 2013 (UTC)
- hmm... I fixed a couple I found but I see that most of the nominations went through. Hopefully that's because these weren't linked but I suppose it's also because people like you fixed it for me. So thanks for that and I'll make sure I'm more careful in the future. Pichpich (talk) 22:48, 22 July 2013 (UTC)

Countrymerge fr-en
[edit]Hi Pichpich, you removed some lines from User:Byrial/countrymerge/fr-en with the summary "remove some male/female sports category problems".
Thank you for taking care of this. If I understand this correct, it was items which linked to categories for female sportspeople in French, but to sportspeople of both sexes in other langauges. If so, Q8856131 may have the same problem. It is the not listed sixth pattern from this line:
- Pattern found 6 times (with country autrichienne, chinoise, bosnienne, brésilienne, ivoirienne ...):

Wikidata Merge Gadget
[edit]Hello, Thanks a lot for the hint regarding the deletion and merge of entries but I wasn't able to use these gadgets. Best Regards, Makki98 (talk) 03:05, 4 August 2013 (UTC)
Hola! Podrías fijarte si te permite borrar la fecha de fallecimiento? Por algún motivo desconocido la wiki no me deja hacerlo. Muchas gracias, --LadyInGrey (talk) 01:25, 28 August 2014 (UTC)
- If it's a technical problem, I don't have an answer. But in any case, I don't understand what you're trying to do. Every indication is that this person is still alive. Why would you want to add a date of death statement? Pichpich (talk) 01:33, 28 August 2014 (UTC)
- Justamente lo que quiero es borrarlo ya que esta persona está viva. No corresponde que tenga fecha de fallecimiento. --LadyInGrey (talk) 01:56, 28 August 2014 (UTC)
- But I recently removed the date of death statement because I was cleaning up the mistakes identified by Dexbot (see User:Ladsgroup/report on same birth date and death date) Pichpich (talk) 02:01, 28 August 2014 (UTC)

Thank you!
[edit]Thank you so much for detecting and reverting the grave errors I committed in updating the 'Date of death' field due to an inadvertent bug in the 'Harvest Templates' tool. I have noticed the particular cases and will be reverting all of them myself sooner than later. Your help is highly appreciated. Thanks. ViswaPrabhaവിശ്വപ്രഭtalk 00:09, 14 February 2018 (UTC)
- @Viswaprabha: Hi! I'm not sure how bad the problem really is. One thing I know for sure is that you made this mistake systematically for Japanes shogi players so you should probably look at every Japanese sounding name that you edited recently. A better solution in the long term is to go slower. When you add the date of death, do make sure that this claim is properly referenced on en.wiki, copy that link into Wikidata and if needed add the correct Category:XXXX deaths on Wikipedia. Getting it right is more important than getting it done. Best, Pichpich (talk) 20:46, 14 February 2018 (UTC)
- I have already saved a log of all the edits I did in the last whole two days. From this, I will filter out each and every edits and manually verify the correctness of data. This will be done as early as possible as my high priority job. In the meanwhile, whatever help you do is much welcome! Thanks again for the patience and your extended efforts. This stupid blunder from me will not happen again. ViswaPrabhaവിശ്വപ്രഭtalk 21:06, 14 February 2018 (UTC)
- @Viswaprabha:
- Hi, I also had this same problem. It is caused by the use of en:Template:Event date and age for date of "achieved professional status"...which could seem logical ; but this template is a redirect to en:Template:Death date and age. All those people are concerned. There is no bug in HT, which follows the redirect as it should.
- to avoid this, I now only import death date from this template when there is also death year in category ;) - but it would probably be better to warn enwiki against this specific use of a redirect template ^^
j'aimerais ton avis, stp
[edit]https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q25712384&action=history
