Undelete
[edit]I have undeleted this property per discussion at Wikidata_talk:Notability#Exception_for_titles_of_rulers.2C_nobles.2C_peers_and_chivalric_orders. --Stevenliuyi (talk) 15:39, 28 April 2013 (UTC)
How to populate?
[edit]There seem to be quite a lot of lists, categories and navigation boxes at Wikipedia that could be used to populate this field, but none seem to be exactly straightforward.
How could we go about it? --- Jura 07:50, 16 February 2015 (UTC)
Broadened to "hereditary title"
[edit]I have broadened the English definition to hereditary title as conceptually that is what we are talking, and royal and noble after that are of variable cultural difference. Even within the UK system baronetcies were not noble titles, just inheritable gentry titles (according to enWP), and there was no collective to assign them. I hope that meets the approval of the community. — billinghurst sDrewth 12:46, 9 June 2015 (UTC)
- To note that for UK, it seems that baronetcies are part of the aristocracy, but not peers/nobles, ie. called to parliament for the House of Lords, which is the simplest difference that I can determine, and for me that makes a very country specific determination that seems less applicable for WD. — billinghurst sDrewth 14:31, 9 June 2015 (UTC)
- There is a similar issue with the property "noble family" (Property:P53). --- Jura 14:43, 9 June 2015 (UTC)
Creation of title (1st, 2nd, etc)
[edit]For https://tools.wmflabs.org/reasonator/?q=Q202802&lang=en how shall we specify the creation of the title? series ordinal (P1545) can work for the numbering within a creation, but we might need a distinct one to specify the creation. foundational text (P457) or a new item based one could work. --- Jura 17:10, 23 June 2015 (UTC)
Use for hereditary non-noble statuses?
[edit]Is this property usable for hereditary non-noble statuses? I'm looking for what property to use for kohanim. It's not technically a noble title by most definitions, and doesn't match position held, member of, ethnic group, or anything other properties that I can think of other than instance of (P31). The label of this property has been switched back and forth between noble title and hereditary title, so I can't tell what the domain is supposed to be. --Yair rand (talk) 07:37, 10 November 2015 (UTC)
- hereditary title seems to be ok but only if it include all titles noble and non-noble. Geagea (talk) 09:59, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
I added replaces (P1365) / replaced by (P1366) as a allowed qualifiers, because are the correct for personal successions, instead follows (P155) / followed by (P156). However, I keep these because their large use. Amadalvarez (talk) 09:06, 31 August 2020 (UTC)
Replacing P106 by P97
[edit]Why is KrBot replacing P106 by P97. There's quite a difference between a person having a noble title and the title of a medieval ruler. Roelof Hendrickx (talk) 00:59, 26 October 2024 (UTC)
- There is quite a difference between an occupation and a noble title, even a medieval one. Take Count of Nassau-Hadamar (Q94992489) for example: Count of Nassau-Hadamar is not an occupation. Landlord could be an occupation.
- In my humble opinion, to be the ruler of a territory is a function (position held (P39)), not an occupation.
