How to change your user agent

Every time you load a website, your browser sends a request to load that page. Included in that request is a bit of data called a "user agent". This special bit of data identifies the web browser, operating system (and sometimes things like your phone or tablet) that you're using. This is one of the things our My Browser page uses to detect your web browser.

Normally, you don't need to change your web browser's user agent; you should leave it as it is; however sometimes power-users need to change their user agent to test a feature on a website or perhaps to get around a restriction that a website has implemented (perhaps blocking Chrome users from an Internet-Explorer-only website...)
