UCSF Health has opened its fifth outpatient facility and third cancer center on the Peninsula to expand patient access to a range of UCSF Health specialists and care.

Receiving a cancer diagnosis can be challenging, but traveling for care shouldn’t have to be.”

The Peninsula Outpatient Center, located at 225 California Dr. in the heart of downtown Burlingame, offers cancer clinical care, an 18-chair infusion center, comprehensive radiology services for complex imaging, and lab services. Later this year, the clinic will open a surgery center with four state-of-the-art operating rooms.

“Receiving a cancer diagnosis can be challenging, but traveling for care shouldn’t have to be,” said Suresh Gunasekaran, president and chief executive officer of UCSF Health. “For people who live or work on the Peninsula, we’re proud to provide the top-notch care patients expect from UCSF in convenient and comfortable locations.”

With the new facility, UCSF Health is offering expert care in a wide range of cancers, with the addition of multidisciplinary care for breast and urologic cancers. UCSF’s cancer services have been recognized as the best in Northern California and No. 7 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report.

“What’s exciting about the new Peninsula Outpatient Center is that it makes health care more available for patients,” said Karen Chee, MD, director of hematology for UCSF Health cancer services on the Peninsula. “For example, patients with UCSF doctors in San Francisco don’t have to travel to the city for their lab work. They can now get that done in Burlingame if it’s closer to their home or job. For patients with doctors on the Peninsula, Burlingame is another convenient location for a range of services.”

The new facility is part of UCSF’s effort to provide the full spectrum of care through a growing network of convenient locations in the Bay Area. UCSF Health’s other locations on the Peninsula include Cancer Center Redwood City, Cancer Center San Mateo, Redwood Shores Specialty Care, and San Mateo Primary and Specialty Care.
