Lesson 2
Approaching
Left turns:
MSPSL
• Mirrors
• Signal left
• Position – need to be in
centre of road
• Speed and gears –
brake, clutch down,
select 2nd gear, brake
off, clutch off and turn
• Look – new roads, new
mirrors, apply gas
Approaching
Right turns:
MSPSL
• Mirrors
• Signal left
• Position – need to be right of
the lane, hugging the centre
lines
• Speed and gears – brake,
clutch down, select 2nd gear,
brake off, clutch off and turn
if CLEAR. Oncoming traffic –
brake, select 1st gear, brake
off, turn when clear
• Look – new roads, new
mirrors, apply gas
Open v Closed Junctions
• Open – means the view left and right is good. Stay in 2nd
hear and keep going
• Closed – means the view is blocked, select 1st gear and
creep and peep forward until view is good
Emerging left
at T junction
• Open junction – 2nd gear
and continue unless
oncoming traffic
• Closed junction – 1st gear
as you cant see oncoming
traffic
Turning right
at T junction
• Open junction – 2nd gear
and continue unless
oncoming traffic
• Closed junction – 1st gear
as you cant see oncoming
traffic
