INTRODUCTION
NOISE IS UNWANTED SOUND .IT CAN CAUSE HEARING LOSS,DISTURB
COMMUNICATION OR CAUSE NUISANCE
NOISE CONTROL IS A SET OF STRATEGIES TO REDUCE NOISE
POLLUTION OR TO REDUCE IMPACT , WHETHER
OUTDOORS OR INDOORS

WHY NOISE AT SOURCE??
VIBRATION OF LARGE PARTS.
IRREGULAR FLUID FLOW IN PIPE SETTING.
IMPROPER MAINTANENANCE.
DUE TO TRANSPORTATION.
ROADWAYS NOISE AND AIRCRAFT NOISES.

SOUND AND NOISE...
Sound is a form of energy that is transmitted by pressure vibrations or
vibrations that travel through the air or other medium .
Sound waves combine and reach alistener via direct and indirect pathways.
Noise nuisance is excessive noise or disturbance that may have a negative
effect on health.

ROOM ACOUSTICS....
Room acoustics is the sound behaviour in room .
The persistence of the sound creates unwanted rooms with high level of reflected
sound may have poor room acoustics depending on the use of the room since
background noise and interferes with the ability to understand speech.
The time required for the sound to be absorbed gradually and reduced below
hearing levels.

EFFECTIVE WAYS TO REDUCE
NOISE LEVELS :
1.SOUND PROOFING: sound proofing is a process that
involves installing materials that can be absorb or block
sound waves. Some common soundproofing windows and
doors and acoustic panels .
2.ACOUSTIC INSULATION:Acoustic insulation is atype of
insulation thhat is installed in walls ,cellings, and floors to
reduce sound transmission. It works by absorbing sound
waves, preventing them from travelling through the walls and
into the building.
17
3.SOUND PROOFING OF WINDOWS AND DOORS :sound
proof of windows and doors are specially designed to reduce
the amount of sound that can enter a room .they are typically
made of multiple panes of glass with an air gap between
them ,which helps to reduce sound tramision .
4.SOUND BARRIERS: sound barriers are structures that are
designed to block sound waves from entering a building .They
are typically installed outside of the building and can be made
of materials such as concrete or wood .

5.SOUND BARRIERS : sound barriers are structures that are
designed to block sound waves from entering a building .They
are typically installed outside of the building and can be made
of materials such as concrete or wood .

FLOOR CONSTRUCTION....
Floor and ceiling provide two acoustical function:
1.provide separation between adjacent spaces .
That is AIRBORNE SOUND INSULATION
2.reduce sound of footfalls and other impact
sounds .that is IMPACT INSULATION.
Using a carpet and a pad or a resilient floor
underlayment improves impact insulation.
20
SPACE PLANNING.....
Space planning deals with orgainsing spaces to avoid
adverse adjustments of noisy equipment like mechanical
equipments and electrical equipments
It can be the most cost -effective noise control technique.
21
CONCLUSION.....
ADVANTAGES :
Noise reduction,privacy,stress reduction,fire resistant,durable over time
DISADVANTAGES :
Their highly absorbent materials only and reduce echoes and reverberation that
cause noise pollution within the space .
