INTRODUCTION:
• Stress.
1. PHYSICAL APPEARANCE

a) Acne and skin problems

b) Weight and body image
c) Personal grooming and style
d) Overall physical appearance
We surveyed ten (10) students and only one (1) student rated
himself or herself “extremely stressed”. That is concerning

• Physical appearance is an important aspect of one’s identity and can

significantly shape one’s self-esteem. But, at this age of being a teen, our
body starts to change and develop. This is the time when acnes and skin
problems appeared. We either gain or lose weight. We now start grooming
ourselves because we want to look beautiful and handsome. We want to be
neat and smell fresh everyday. We want to look good so that people will not
look down on us.
• There are some students who are satisfied with their physical appearance
have higher self-esteem and have a positive outlook in life. While those who
are less satisfied have lower self-esteem and always have a negative outlook
in themselves. So, being stressed with physical appearance should not be
taken seriously. Just be yourself and no one will judge you.
2. FAMILY
a) Relationship with parents/guardians
b) Sibling relationships
c) Family expectations and pressure
d) Family conflicts
We surveyed ten (10) students and one (1) student
rated “extremely stressed” in family expectations &
pressures as well as in family conflicts, too. And, he also
rated “very stressed” with his relationship with parents.
• Family is very important in our lives. Our parents are the ones teaching us to
traditions, values, and beliefs that provides us an environment for our
personal growth and development. We, Filipinos, are family-oriented
meaning we are being close to our family members and we are being
supported in whatever we do. They give us love and care.
• Maybe, some have parents that are so strict and expect too much from their
children. Some parents also are so busy with their work and tend to forget
their responsibility to their children. Some tend to spoil their children with
money and material things. There are also sibling rivalry. Brothers and sisters
are being competed against each other.
• Family must sow a sense of belonging and identity through love, support and
guidance to each family members and must not show favoritisms among the
children.
3. ACADEMICS
a) Homework load
b) Tests and exams
c) Grades and academic performance
d) Time management and study skills
Out of the ten(10) students that we surveyed, only one (1) students
rated “extremely stressed”. It seems that he had a hard time coping
with his studies and perhaps lack time management in studying and
doing his assignments/projects.

• Academic stress means that it is the result of academic demands that exceed a
students ability to cope, leading to stress and potential negative effects on mental
health. The main cause for these are the many tasks, projects, paperworks, etc.
Students tend to feel under lots of pressure and always worried about finishing
their activities so as to pass them on time. Otherwise, if they submit it late, their
be given a deduction on their grades.
• If you do not know how to manage your study time, it will really affect your focus
in studying and will greatly affect your grades if you tend to obtain high grades.
• Thus, you really must know how to handle your study habits, get enough sleep,
eat well, exercise and maintain good relationships with your classmates, friends
and family as well. In this way, you will reduce your stress.
4. TECHNOLOGY
a) Social media pressure
b) Cyberbullying
c) Fear of missing out (FOMO)
d) Screen time and digital addiction
So far, only one (1) student surveyed rated “extremely
stressed” in Fear of missing out (FOMO).

• Most students are knowledgeable about technology because

everybody owns a cellphone or any gadgets nowadays. They know
how to use them in their studies, social life, etc.
• Technology offers platforms for social connection, educational
resources and time management tools, it can also lead to social
isolation, decreased physical activities and bad sleeping patterns.
Excessive use of gadgets tend to disrupt our focus in our studies
because we always tempted to look into our social media, play games
or watch movies or browse the internet.
5. PEERS
a) Peer pressure
b) Social acceptance and fitting in
c) Friendship conflicts
d) Bullying or harassment
One (1) student rated “extremely stressed” in social acceptance &
fitting in and friendship conflicts and “very stressed” in peer pressure
and bullying. Another student rated “extremely stressed” in bullying
or harassment.

• It is nice to have a circle of friends. But sometimes, there are friends

who are doing something that you would not do and they will
convince you to join them. Otherwise, if you will not follow, they will
harass you until you give in.
• There are peers or friends that can influence you to do something
positive and help you to do good. These kind of peers are kind, loyal
and give support to your problems.
CONCLUSION
• To cope with stress especially in school, in your studies and at home,
you must learn how to relax, meditate, take a breather, calm your
thoughts, listen to music, go for a walk, read, and talk to a friend or
connect with your loved ones/family.
• And, always pray or talk to God.
