• COURSE TITLE: Community Health Nursing 1 :Individual & Family as Clients
• CREDIT UNITS: 2 units (36 hours)
• COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course deals the concepts, principles,
theories & techniques in the provision of basic care in the terms of health
promotion, disease prevention, restoration & maintenance & rehabilitation
at the individual & family level. It includes the study of the Philippine Health
Care Delivery System, national health situation & the global context of
public health. The learners are expected to provide safe, appropriate &
holistic nursing care to individual & family as clients in community setting
utilizing the nursing process.

• At the end of 2nd year, given a normal and high-
risk mother and newborn, child, family, population
group and community in any health care settings,
the learners demonstrate safe, appropriate, and
holistic care utilizing the nursing process.

1. Apply knowledge of physical, social, natural, health sciences, & humanities
in the care of individual & family in the community setting.
2. Provide safe, appropriate & holistic care to individuals & families in the
community utilizing the family nursing process.
3. Apply guidelines & principles of evidence-based practice in the delivery of
care to individual & family in the community setting.
4. Practice nursing in the community setting in accordance with law, legal,
ethical, & moral principles.
5. Communicate effectively in speaking, writing, & presenting using culturally
