                           TOOLS
Hello! We are the Electrical Measuring
Tools and Instrument. We make every day
living easy, from measuring the size of the
wire, resistance, current, and voltage, up
to computing the total electricity consumed
at your home. But did you know where we
come from?
These are used to measure currents, voltages, resistances, wattages and
other important elements in electrical works. Different kinds of
measuring tools and precision measuring instruments are as follows:
  Measuring
    Tools
and 1.Test Light - is a pocket size tool used to test
the line wire or circuit if there is current in it.
  Implements
                            2. Micrometer - is used to measure the diameter of
wires/conductors in circular mils. It can measure
small and big sizes of wires and cables.
3. Wire Gauge - is used in determining
the size of wires/conductors. The gauge
ranges from 0 to 60 AWG (American
 wire gauge).
                                  4. Ruler/foot rule - is a measuring tool
used to measure length, width and
thickness of short flat object and in
                                   sketching straight lines.
 5. Pull-Push Rule - is a measuring
tool used to measure the length of an
  object in centimeter and inches.
                                             6. Ammeter - is an instrument used to measure
the amount of electrical current intensity in a
                                             circuit. The unit of measure
is ampere (a). It is connected along or series to
                                             the circuit.
7. Voltmeter - is an instrument used to
measure electrical pressure or voltage of
a circuit. The unit of measure is volt (v). This
is connected across or parallel to the circuit.
                                             8. Clamp Ammeter - is also called tong-
tester. It is used to measure current
flowing in a conductor. It is clamped or
                                             hanged in a conductor.
9. Volt-Ohmmeter (VOM) otherwise called
as Multi-tester - is used to measure the voltage,
resistance and current of a circuit. It is connected
in parallel or series with the circuit depending on
what to measure.
                                              10. Megohmmeter or insulation resistance
tester - is a special type of ohmmeter used
to measure the electrical resistance of
                                              insulators.
Measurement is the process or the result of determining
the ratio of a physical quantity, such as a length, time,
temperature, etc., to a unit of measurement, such as the
meter, second or degree Celsius. The science of
measurement is called metrology. The English word
measurement originates from the Latin mēnsūra and the
verb metiri through the Middle French mesure.

            Parts of a MULTITESTER
Hi! I am Mr. VOM. I’m here to discuss
parts of a multitester. A multitester is a
devise used to measure voltage,
resistance and current in electronics &
electrical equipment. It is also used to test
continuity between to 2 points to verify if
there is any breaks in circuit on line. It is the
best instrument that can measure voltage,
amperes and ohms. It is generally made of
two types: the analog and the digital.
VOLTS, AMPS, OHMS- What does it mean?
Before we learn the parts of a multitester we need to become
familiar with the
quantities we are going to be measuring.
QUANTITIES AND TERMS USED IN ELECTRICAL
1. VOLTS- This is the pressure between two points in an
electrical circuit. It could be measured across the voltage
source or other components connected in the circuit
2. AMPS- this is a measure of the current flowing between two
points in an electrical
       circuit.
3. OHMS- A measure of the resistance to flow in a circuit
4. LOAD- A device or component which draws power from a
voltage source. This could be an electronic resistor, bulb,
electric heater, motor, or any electrical appliances.
5. GROUND- this is usually the point in a circuit to which the
negative terminal of a battery or power supply connected
6. DC- Direct Current. Current flows only one way from a DC
source, an example of
7. AC- Alternating Current. Current flows one way from a source,
reverses, and then flows the other way. This happens many times
a second at a rate determined by the frequency which is typically
     50 or 60 hertz.
8. POLARITY- A term used to describe the direction of flow of
current in a circuit or which points are positive and which are
negative which a reference point.
The following are the parts of a multitester
1. POINTER POINTER. The needle-shaped rod
that moves over the scale of a
                                    meter.
                                    Pointer It is mechanically
connected to the moving coil. it
                                    indicates the measured values on
                                    the multimeter
2. RANGE SELECTOR RANGE SELECTOR
                                                 KNOB (Selector
KNOB switch) makes it possible
                                                 to select different
                                                 functions
                                                 and range of the meter
3. ADJUSTMENT Adjustment screw makes it
SCREW possible to adjust the
                     pointer to the zero position
                     of the scale.
SCALE is a series of marking used
4. SCALE for reading the value of a quantity
SCALE -can have different types of
                scale, for voltage and
                current readings the scales
                have mostly linear which
                means equal division.
3.
5. TEST PROBE Probes. Are the handles used to hold tip
                     on the tested connection.
Red meter lead- Is connected to
                     Voltage/Resistance or amperage port
and considered as the positive connection.
Black meter lead- is always connected to
the common port and considered as the
                     negative connection.
6. PANEL INDICATOR
                      Panel Indicator. Shows each function
and setting range to turn dial to.
