PROPERTY LAW
Objective
• The Transfer of Property Act, 1882 happened to be one of the early
legislations of the nineteenth century and having an important place in the
statute book with the main objective to render the system of transfer of
immovable property a system of public transfer. Thus, it mainly deals
with the transfer of immovable property, although some of the sections
also deals with transfer of movable property.
• The main purpose of the Transfer of Property Act is to bring the rules,
which regulated the transfer of property between living persons in to
harmony. The person may include an individual, company or association
or body of individuals.
• This course focuses on the study of concept of property, specific
transfers like sale, lease, mortgage, exchange, gift etc and on the
nature of property rights and the general principles governing the
transfer of property.
• It includes an exposure in to the concept of easement.
