CISC Architecture Overview

This document discusses Complex Instruction Set Computers (CISC). CISC uses complex instructions that can perform multiple low-level operations in a single instruction. It has characteristics like varied instruction length, multiple addressing modes, and fewer registers. Advantages include smaller code size and ease of programming, while disadvantages are slower execution speed, reduced pipelining efficiency, and increased hardware complexity. Examples of CISC architectures include Intel x86/x64, DEC PDP-11, and Motorola 68000.
