Math Patterns for Middle Schoolers

1) The document discusses different types of number patterns including square, rectangular, triangular, Pascal's triangle, and Fibonacci numbers. 2) It provides examples and formulas to describe the patterns. For square numbers, the nth term is n^2. For triangular numbers, the nth term is n(n+1)/2. 3) It gives examples of finding specific terms and sums within the patterns. One example asks to find the 8th term of the triangular number pattern.

ADDITION OF EVEN NUMBERS
Consider the folowing figure.

Figure 1 Figure 2 Figure 3 Figure 4

1st term = 2 dots 2 + 4 + 6 + 8 +... + 16 = 72

2nd term = 2 + 4 = 6 dots
We can see that The number
3rd term = 2 + 4 + 6 = 12 dots of dots in rectangular number
4th term = 2 + 4 + 6 + 8 = 20 dots is the sum of even numbers
