What do we mean by needs?

Needs are the basic


requirements of a human
being. It
is something that is
necessary for an organism
to live a healthy life
What do we mean by wants ?

Wants are the satisfiers


of needs. These are our
desires for goods and
services we would like
to have but do not
need.
Demands are wants for specific products. They are
backed up by willingness and ability to buying
power. Wants to be backed up by money and
willingness to spend the money becomes a demand.
Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs is a
theory that provides a model for how
learners are motivated to learn.
• Physiological needs or basic needs are things needed to survive such
as food, water, air, sleep, clothing, and shelter.
• Security needs or safety needs are also important for survival but not
as demanding as basic needs. Examples are employment healthcare
and safe home.
• Social needs include the need for belonging, love, affection,
friendship, attachment and families.
• Esteem needs include personal worth, social recognition, and
accomplishments
• Self-actualization or Self-Fulfillment needs are personal awareness
and have less concern with the opinions of others.

providing assistance, quality service respect, and comfort.
