• ALSO CALLED AS THE “CHANCRE MIASM
• SYPHILIS IS ALSO CALLED AS “DEGENERATING OR DESTRUCTIVE MIASM”
• ALL CAUSED BY STRUCTURAL CHANGES
• ACCORDING TO HAHNEMANN , THIS IS “The second chronic miasma
which is more widely spread than the figwart disease (sycosis) and which
for three and half (now four) centuries have been the source of any other
chronic disease “

SYPHILIS MIASM

• INTERNAL DEVELOPMENT OF SYPHILITIC MIASM
It takes around 12 to 15 days from the date of contact
• PRIMARY MANIFESTATION OF SYPHILIS-----
first sign an ulcer , round in shape and as a button in size with a grey or
white coating on it, i.e. hard ‘chancre’, appears in the genitalia.

• DEVELOPMENT OF SECONDARY MANIFESTATION ----
The Disease Attract the internal organ which are least able to resist
(syphilitic miasm proper)

In hereditary Syphilis, no primary chancre are seen, Childs will
manifested the symptoms of that stage only in which it has been
inherited from the parents.
In hereditary Syphilis we find cleft palate, perforation of bones,
deformity of limbs or organs, blindness, deafness, dumbness,
paralyses etc. are seen from the very beginning

• In his book “The principle and art of cure by Homeopathy” Dr. Roberts says, the
analogy he constructed is between the destructive tendency of Syphilitic miasm
and the anti-syphilitic homoeopathic remedies.
• The substances which are used as pre-eminently syphilitic remedies are having
the atomic weights of above 53.
• They are the elements with highest radio-active and destructive tendencies. The
radio-activity is the heat evolving (exothermic) processes.
• Once this process is continued for a sufficient length of time, the original
substance itself seems to change.
• The radio-active substances, without destroying themselves just as the syphilitic
miasm, actually destroy living tissue.
• The law of similia is employing the destructive elements therapeutically
in curing the destructive syphilitic miasm.

CRITERIAS USED FOR SYPHILIS
MIASM
DYES AND IRREGURAL MANIFESTATION
Eg: dysphagia , dystrophy ,dysplasia
Irregular manifestation such as irregular peristatic
movement resulting in dysenteric spasm or high and low BP
GENERAL Modalities
• Aggravation < sufferings are< at night
• Aggravation (<)/Amelioration (>): leucorrhoea or any abnormal
discharge> suffering but natural excretions like urine ,stool, sweat <
the suffering
• Aggravation (<)/Amelioration (>): all complaints< by heat and > by
cold
• HEAD(External) : hair dry , like fiber of jute . Thick hair , oily ,
greasy , hairs falls out in bunches ,beginning first on vertex then
on the temples, falling of hair from eye lashes, eye brows, hair fall
out from beard because of skin eruptions, hair- matted together
• Syphilitic headaches that come on Sunday or when they are away
from their usual vocations
<: Night, hot application ,rest , attempt to sleep
• NOSE /SMELL: Loss of smell , snuffles in children , ulceration of
nose with thick crusty discharged
Bones of nose destroyed. Deep fissures on lips
• FACE: Face greyish and greesy . Face of infant looks old and
wrinkled
• MOUTH, TEETH ,GUMS: Dental abscess , ulceration , true ulcers in
mouth, offensive saliva ,Tongue has imprint of teeth .
• TASTE: Saline , viscid,metallic or coppery taste is syphilitic
• DESIRE AND AVERTION: like cold food and cold drinks, Aversion to
meat.
• HEART: In Sycotic and Syphilitic Stigmata, we find little mental
disturbance accompanying with heart conditions.
Silent ,Asymptomatic complaints , Patient suddenly dies with heart
complaints, irregular pulse is syphilitic
• ABDOMEN: Dysentery with spasm is syphilitic
• INTESTINAL TRACT: Sudden diarrhoea at night and the patient
is driven out of bed, Perverted and dysenteric spasm are
syphilitic
• SEXUAL ORGAN: Painful and troublesome erections without
sexual desire
Inability to perform the act of coitus
The vaginal discharge can be drawn into long thread
• URINARY ORGANS:
• Fibrous changes in kidney .Irritation and burning in parts
wherever the urine touches . This indicates the acidic tendency
the miasm produce
• EXTRIMITIES: Stitching , shooting ,lancinating pains in
periosteum of long bones.
• Bony pain is syphilitic, burning , tearing pain in long bone < at
night
• SLEEP: Rolling of head from side to side during sleep
• MALIGNANCY: prone to develop at the age of 40
• SKIN: Eruptions at the corner of joints in circular
forms ,circumscribed spots , dry gangrene is syphilitic
Open ulcers of violent type.
