Introduction
• I have created a print product (front cover,
contents page and double page spread of a
music magazine)
• I have worked independently and done all the
aspects of the product myself and used all my
own photos.
In what ways does your media product use/develop or
challenge forms and conventions of real products?
This is my front cover and When looking at the text on

When looking at the Mise-en-sence of this page everything links to the rock genre/theme,
this is very important as crossing themes can cause arguments and will be unappealing to
the customers who don't like one of the themes.
My magazine front cover

In my contents page the layout is
very simple and easy to follow, I
have again used black writing
onto a white background to make
the writing easy to read, except
when I have highlighted a small
part of the text in red to make it
stand out and appeal to the
reader to read on.
I have structured this piece into
three small sections at a font size
of eleven so the text is big
enough to read when printed, I
have also highlighted the most

also in black and white as it links to the front cover
and the colour scheme. The posters in the background
of the artist also advertise the style of music in which
the magazine is linked to.
How does you’re media product represent social
groups?

When looking at the people in my magazine they all have

instruments showing that the rock industry involves lots of
musically talented people, it also shows the artists as hard
working and very passionate about their music as they put a
lot of time into forming bands etc

My magazine looks at people more into rock music and the

people in the magazine are represented and people very
interested in rock music and into dark clothes and hair, this
gives a specific image to the rock fans and many people label
them as “Emos “ and “Goths”, but when looking at through
the article it shows a happy music driven side to them as
they are very serious about their lifestyles.
What kind of media institution might distribute you’re
media product and why?

The publisher that I would like to publish my

magazine is an institution called IPC .
This institution have published NME a magazine
that focuses on indie music, I think they could
benefit my music magazine to promote rock
music so the institution have a indie and a rock
magazine.
IPC magazine are so well known that over 26
million people read a magazine published by
them, this would really promote rock music to
shops and rock music fans.
Who would be the audience for your media product?
When looking at my magazine I would say that my magazine is targeted at both male
and females as they type of music and genre can be liked my either sex, I also this my
magazine would only appeal to people at the age of around 14 to 25 as many people
drift off into their careers after the age of 25.
My magazine is targeted at any race of ethnic group as it is a rock magazine to for fill
peoples love for rock music so anybody who likes rock music is who this magazine is
targeted at.
My magazine includes many pictures of people with musical instruments and
musicians, this could target people who are interested in musical instruments and
interested in becoming musicians themselves.
My magazine is sold at a very cheap price compared to others making it a lot easier for
less wealthy people to buy, this means everybody can afford my magazine meaning it is
targeted at almost everyone.
Looking at the genre, colour scheme and musical content of my magazine I would say it
is targeted at people who are interested in the music genre “rock” this could interest
many stereotypes such as Goths and Emos.
How did you attract/address your audience?
As you can see on my Next you can see that the
front page I have name of the features artist
addressed the reader by “BEYOND ORDINARY” stands
writing the name of the out as it is the only bold white
magazine in a big’ bold text on the page, this attracts

What have you learnt about the technologies from the
process of constructing your magazine?

During the process of constructing my magazine I have

firstly learnt how to use the website blogger (
www.blogger.com) . By using this I have learn how to post
information on the research, planning, process and
evaluation to show the four mane stages in making a
product.

During this process I have also used the internet to

research possible ideas about my product, I have mainly
used the most common search engine Google (
www.google.com) this has been very useful as I have
researched different magazines and front covers that have
really inspired my magazine pages.
During the process of making my media product I had to
take a minimum of four photographs, luckily I am also
studying photographer at AS level so I own a camera, during
this process I have learnt to work in a studio environment
and who to use lighting and effects, all this came in very
handy in my media product. Also throughout this process I
have learnt to use Photoshop, I am also quite familiar with
this as I do photography, to edit some photos then put
them into InDesign to create my front page, in design has
also been very useful in the process of my media product as
without it I couldn’t have possibly made and designed my
magazine.
InDesign helped me create all my pages and design them
with pictures colours and different texts/ fonts. I have used
InDesign the most out of all of these technologies as it has
been the most important in the whole process.
Conclusion!

Overall I think my media product has been a great success as I think it fits all my areas
in the way I wanted it too, I wouldn’t change any big details to it as I like it the way it is
but the only thing I would consider changing if I had the chance would be the
journalism in the double page spread as I don’t think it fits to the standard of the rest
of the magazine.
