In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and
conventions of real media products?
My magazines target audience is young women who are looking
for confidence and inspiration. My choice of colour will appeal to
the target audience as pink is a feminine .

My main image dominates the front cover, as most music

magazines have a main image that stands out. The image has
connotations of power and seriousness, suggesting the artist
creates powerful meaning songs that people should listen
too.

On the menu strip I have used freebies as they are a easy way
of attracting the audience as people take an interest in things
like competitions and things that are ‘up for grabs’. Also with
the prize being concert tickets it will appeal to the audience
greatly as it is a music magazine.

Kickers are also a good way of

attracting the audience as
interesting topics immediately
become eye catching.

The masthead is called ‘Listen’ as this immediately

thought it would increase buyers.

The magazine I chosen to follow is Vogue, although it is not a music magazine the codes and conventions of a magazine still apply and I though
the layout suited my magazine.

The influence of my contents page is NME, this is due to the amount of things that are on the

just used the layout.
DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD

To develop my magazine into something successful like most magazines I included an imagine to define and enhance the article.
Whilst researching I noticed the image that dominates a page on a double page spread it usually to identify a lifestyle . A lot of
Artists talk about their life to create a mass audience as they allow to talk about their personal life, I did this as I wanted ‘Amy T’
To be a laid back honest person who perhaps could be a bit cheeky and at times feisty. I followed the codes and conventions of my
House style by using suitable fonts and colours. This makes my magazine to appear more professional .
How does your media product
represent particular social groups?
• My magazine represents the target audience of young females. This is due to the various codes and
conventions my magazine involves.

Firstly, the colours used in my magazine though out

are feminine. I chose certain colours as they
represent different things which conveys what I
want my magazine to be about. Even though it is a
music magazine I still think that different artists sing
about meaning things that relate to different
women's lives. Pink represents love and beauty yet
black can represent a black and fearful experience.
These colours may relate to the target audience
which will help me sell my magazine.

The fonts used in my magazine are very basic. The

genre of music in my magazine is Pop and I don’t
think a magazine needs a pacific font to portray
any meaning.
Kesha was an inspiration for my front cover, this is
because her image is so powerful and it gets her
extremely noticed. I thought this would help me sell
my magazine as women often have opinions that
are not heard or seen as important.

The costume for this photo is very simple, just a black dress.
This is because I felt the pose is powerful enough and the
models facial expressions should be the main focus of the
picture. This follows the conventions of a pop magazine for
females as female singers tend to be very pretty.
• In conclusion I believe my magazine uses all the codes and conventions of the music genre pop, which I
have analysed. The magazine as a whole signifies the strength of women in the music industry and that is
what I intended to show.
MY BLOG
• I made a blog to show my progress throughout making my magazine and what research I have done to ensure my magazine
is successful. Also it shows I can use different methods to show my work. I have displayed my photoshoot on there, which
shows the varied ideas I had for my the pages of my magazine.
