Numerical Study On Cyclic Performance of Composite Shear Walls

This document presents an overview of a numerical study on the cyclic performance of composite shear walls. The objectives are to study the cyclic behavior by varying mechanical shear connectors and steel section plates. The methodology involves literature review, validation, modeling composite shear walls with different connectors and steel plates in ANSYS, interpreting results, and reporting. Several research papers on composite shear walls are reviewed related to failure mode, hysteretic behavior, strength, ductility, and effects of wall parameters.

NUMERICAL STUDY ON CYCLIC PERFORMANCE OF COMPOSITE SHEAR WALLS

ADVANTAGES OF COMPOSITE SHEAR WALLS

 RC wall of CSW can be either cast-in-place or precast
 RC wall can be bolted to steel plates at any convenient time during construction
 RC wall provides sound & temperature insulation, in addition to fire proofing to
steel plates
 The damage of CSW after a moderate or strong earthquake is repairable with
minimal disturbance to its functionality
 In CSW, the RC wall restrains steel plate & prevents its buckling before it yields
in shear
