International Business and Management Studies

Welcome to the website of the part-time International Business and Management Studies (PT IBMS) at the Hogeschool van Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences! This part-time version of the IBMS programme will give you a taste of what it's like to own or manage a business. If youd like to experience action learning, develop soft skills and stretch your potential and acquire hands-on experience, then the part-time programme International Business and Management Studies might be just the ticket for you.

Bachelor of Business Administration


International Business and Management Studies is a hands-on part-time programme taught entirely in English. You will be studying in an international environment with students and teachers from all over the world. The programme, which leads to a Bachelor's degree, addresses strategies for entering and conquering foreign markets.

Career prospects
After completing your study, you will be qualified to take on a management-level position at an international company or in the business-services industry.

So who are you?


Students likely to thrive at our school are those who, in addition to being intellectually curious and having an aptitude for business, are open-minded, interested in other cultures, have a hands-on approach, long-term goals, and a flexible attitude. They should also have an interest in extra-curricular activities.

Admission requirements
Students with a Dutch diploma
In order to be eligible for the programme, you will need a secondary school qualification equal to the Dutch havo, vwo or mbo level 4. In some cases, depending on your profile, there may be additional requirements.

Students with a diploma obtained outside the Netherlands


If you have a diploma from a school outside the Netherlands, you must have passed the national, standardised examinations for university entrance. You will need at least a pass in mathematics and preferably also business studies or accounting. For example: GCSEs, grades A, B or C in four subjects with at least two or more A-levels, International Baccalaureate, Abitur or Fachhochschulreife, Baccalaurat or another diploma equivalent to the Dutch havo, vwo or mbo level 4 diploma. All diplomas will be reviewed by the School of Economics and Management.

Language requirements

As English is the language of instruction, we expect you to have good English- language writing and speaking skills. The minimum overall score required is 6.0 on acedemic level (IELTS) with no subscore below 5.5 or 550 paper-based or 80 internet-based (TOEFL). The test should not be more than 2 years old. Students with a Dutch mbo level 4, havo or vwo diploma and a score in English lower than 7 are advised to take an IELTS test. This will determine whether their level of English is good enough to study in English. Native speakers (e.g. students from United States, United Kingdom, Ireland etc. ) and applicants who have succesfully undertaken secondary education or post-secondary courses at an accredited institution, where English was the language of instruction, for a minimum of two years, are not required to present any proof of their English proficiency.
