PROBLEM

ONE TO ONE FUNCTION - DEFINITION

ONE TO ONE FUNCTION WITH EXAMPLE

A function is one to one if no more than one element in the

domain is paired with an element in the range.

Note every Uppercase number has exactly one lower case

partner

A a
B b
C c
ONTO FUNCTION - DEFINITION

ONTO FUNCTION WITH EXAMPLE

If there exists a function for which every element of set B there is

(are) pre-image(s) in set A, it is Onto Function. Onto is also
referred as Surjective Function.
ONE TO ONE AND ONTO FUNCTION WITH EXAMPLE

A function, f is One – One and Onto or Bijective if the function f is

both One to One and Onto function. In other words, the function
f associates each element of A with a distinct element of B and
every element of B has a pre-image in A.
BIJECTIVE FUNCTION WITH EXAMPLE

A function which is both injective (one to one) and surjective

(onto) is called bijective (One to One & Onto) function.
IDENTITY FUNCTION WITH EXAMPLE

MANY TO ONE FUNCTION WITH EXAMPLE

Let f: X → Y. The function f is said to be many-one functions if

there exist two or more than two different elements in X having
the same image in Y.
CONSTANT FUNCTION WITH EXAMPLE

INVERSE FUNCTION WITH EXAMPLE
