Hi everyone! My name is Hà.
Here I would like to introduce my
group and present our presentation about a festival in Vietnam
for the listening test. About members, we have: Hà, Kiệt, Tâm,
An, Thắng, Cường, and about the presentation, we will talk
about Mid-Autumn Festival.
As well as other traditional festivals in Vietnam such as Hung
Temple festival, Tet, et cetera... Mid- Autumn festival also one
of the most traditional festivals in Vietnam.
Mid-Autumn festival is held on the 15 th August in the lunar
calendar. There are not many countries in the world celebrating
this day. Instead, Vietnam, China, Singapore, and a few other
countries are famous for this festival.
In modern times, people mainly celebrate the Mid-Autumn
Festival as a time for family reunion. It is said that the moon on
this day is the brightest and roundest, which means family
reunion. Since the main theme is family reunion, the festival
sometimes conjures up comparisons to Thanksgiving in the
United States.
In the month of this event, many lion dancers that are the
traditional symbol of this festival practice dacing on the streets.
Moon-cake stores appear everywhere and many shops start
showing toys, lanterns, and colorful masks. Many children like
to buy laterns shaped a star made with red cellophane on the
streets.
On the night of the full moon, the 15th of August of the lunar
calendar, children with their brightly lit lanterns will gather, and
deal out cakes and fruits. Excitement peaks when drumbeats ring
out and the lion appears, playing with the children. They will
then form raucous processions and tour their neighborhoods
singing songs.
Mid-Autumn festival is not only have the bustling atmosphere,
and bustle. As said above, people mainly celebrate the Mid-
Autumn Festival as a time for family reunion. So besides the
families enjoying the bustling atmosphere on the street, there are
also other families gathering with their relatives to watch the
moon together, eat cake, and chat happily on the porch after
tiring working days.
Thanks for listening!
