ASSIGNMENT# 4
TRANSLATION AND RETRANSLATION OF TENSES
Passage#1:
Bribery and corruption have become a part of our society. These things are not related to a department
or a specific part of society. It seems to be a necessary component of every department and institution.
Life is not so easy anymore. The middle class has lost its way in order to follow rich people. We lose
a lot of time in getting the luxuries of life. The race to defeat others and to become rich is pushing the
society towards bribery and corruption.

There are two fundamental purposes of education. First, it frees people from ignorance,
superstition, bad habits, and many wrong ideas. Secondly, it provides citizens with skills or
vocational training, enabling them to earn a respectable livelihood. In a densely populated country
like Pakistan, education is essential for both of these purposes. If the constitution guarantees the
welfare of its citizens, then the literacy rate should be one hundred percent. Only educated citizens
can effectively utilize democratic rights.
Passage#3:
Pakistan is a peace-loving country. We always want to maintain friendly relations with our
neighbors. But this does not mean that we should become neglectful of our defense. We need to
keep an eye on our surroundings. We should be so strong that no one can even think of harming us.
In the present age, a strong defense is the guarantee of peace.
Passage#4:
Health is a great blessing. But as long as a person remains healthy, he does not appreciate this
blessing. When he catches even a minor illness, he realizes its importance. If any part of the body is
in pain, the whole body feels its effect. If a person is healthy, he enjoys eating, walking, and
working. If health deteriorates, nothing seems enjoyable. People who are often sick find their life
burdensome for themselves and their loved ones.
