Chapter 1: Units and Dimensions

1. Physical Quantities: Fundamental (7 base: L, M, T, I, Θ, N, J) & Derived.

2. Units: SI system (m, kg, s, A, K, mol, cd). Derived units (N, J, Pa).
3. Dimensions: [M, L, T,...]. Examples: Velocity [LT■¹], Force [MLT■²].
4. Applications: Check correctness, derive relations, convert units. Limitations exist.
5. Important Dimensional Formulas: Work [ML²T■²], Pressure [ML■¹T■²], G [M■¹L³T■²].
6. Significant Figures & Errors: Rules of counting; absolute, relative, % error.

Chapter 2: Motion in a Straight Line

1. Distance (scalar) vs Displacement (vector).

2. Speed vs Velocity; Average & Instantaneous.
3. Acceleration: Uniform, non-uniform, retardation.
4. Equations of Motion: v = u+at, s = ut+½at², v²–u²=2as, s=(u+v)t/2.
5. Graphs: slope & area interpretations.
6. Motion under gravity: T=2u/g, H=u²/2g, nth sec distance = u+½g(2n–1).

Chapter 3: Motion in a Plane

1. Scalars vs Vectors. Laws of vector addition: triangle & parallelogram.

2. Resultant formula: R = √(A²+B²+2ABcosθ). Resolution: Ax=Acosθ, Ay=Asinθ.
3. Projectile Motion: T=2u sinθ/g, H=u² sin²θ/2g, R=u² sin2θ/g.
4. Relative velocity in 2D: vAB=vA–vB.
5. Uniform Circular Motion: v=rω, ac=v²/r, Fc=mv²/r.

Chapter 4: Newton’s Laws of Motion

1. First law: Inertia (rest, motion, direction).

2. Second law: F=ma; momentum p=mv.
3. Third law: Action = –Reaction.
4. Impulse: J=F∆t=∆p.
5. Conservation of momentum: m1u1+m2u2=m1v1+m2v2.
6. Friction: static (fs≤µsN), kinetic (fk=µkN), rolling << sliding.
7. Banking of roads: v=√(µrg); tanθ=v²/rg.

Chapter 5: Work, Energy & Power

1. Work: W=Fd cosθ. Work-energy theorem: W=∆KE.

2. KE=½mv², PE=mgh. Power=P=W/t=F·v.
3. Collision: Elastic (momentum+KE conserved), Inelastic (only momentum conserved).
4. Coefficient of restitution: e=(v2–v1)/(u1–u2).

Chapter 6: Centre of Mass

1. COM: R=(Σmiri)/(Σmi).
2. Two particle: xcm=(m1x1+m2x2)/(m1+m2).
3. Rigid bodies: rod-midpoint, disc/sphere-centre, semicircle-2R/π.
4. vcm=(Σmivi)/M; acm=(Σmiai)/M.
