The object of knowledge of neuropsychology

Neuropsychology is a neuroscience that studies the relationships between the brain and the
behavior in both healthy subjects and those who have suffered some type of brain damage (Kolb &
Whishaw, 2002; Rains, 2003.

Its subject of study is almost exclusively human beings and the behaviors studied are more
specifically of our species such as: thought, memory, language, motor skills
perception y executive functions. It is worth mentioning that neuroscience studies the
brain function from a multidisciplinary point of view; this is; through contribution of
disciplines are not mutually exclusive like biology, chemistry, neurology, all these new ones
conceptions of the human mind are necessary to understand mental processes,
particularly more complex ones such as intelligence, consciousness, personality or the
emotions.
Neuropsychology proposes a model and a level of analysis that allows it to position itself between the
more mentalist models and the more neurobiological ones that connect mind and brain. It is inscribed
in the field of neuroscience, which is a multidisciplinary approach to the study of the system
nervous whose the objective is unify knowledge of the neurobiological processes and
psychobiological. Within the specific definitions we have then, that the
Neuropsychology is the science that studies the relationship between the brain and mental processes.
And behavior, its approach is mainly cognitive, that is, of the functions it performs.

psychotherapeutic and psychopharmacological techniques used in the functioning model
