LESSON PLAN

Subject: Chemistry Date: 26.08.2025

Teacher: Gular Beydullayeva Topic: Mixtures.
Class: Grade 6
Lesson ● Define solute, solvent, and solution.
objectives: ● Investigate how factors such as temperature, stirring, and particle size affect the rate of
dissolving.

Plan
Activities Duration
Engage ● 5 minutes
Show sugar in cold water vs. hot water.
Ask: “Which one dissolves faster? Why?”
Write student ideas on the board (temperature, stirring, particle size).

Main activity ● 10-15 minutes

Inquiry Question

“What factors affect how quickly substances dissolve?”

● Encourage students to make predictions (temperature, stirring,

particle size).

Students work in small groups (2–3 per group).

Test one factor per group:

● Temperature: hot vs. cold water

● Stirring: stirred vs. unstirred
● Particle size: sugar cube vs. granulated sugar

Method:

1. Measure 100 mL water into a beaker.

2. Add a fixed amount of solute (1 tsp).
3. Time how long it takes to completely dissolve.
4. Record results in a table.

Assesment Students will complete a worksheet during the lesson, recording their
observations, results, and answers to questions about how quickly
substances dissolve under different conditions.
Reflection / ● 3-5 minutes
cocnlusion
Quick check-for-understanding (oral or mini quiz):

● “Hot water dissolves substances faster because…”

● “The substance that dissolves is called the…”
● “True/False: Stirring slows down dissolving.”

Homework Find three examples of solutions from everyday life and identify the solute and solvent in each.”
