Alikan, Samiah T. Ander, Raida D. ASSESSMENT THE IMPACT OF SOCIAL
MEDIA TO THE ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL
STUDENTS. Butig National High School, Bayabao, Lanao Del Sur.

The purpose of this study is to find out the impact of social media to the academic
performance of senior high school students of Butig National High School. This
attempts to assess the impact of social media to the academic performance given by
Butig National High School (BNHS). And it answers by knowing the perception of the
senior high students about the impact of social media to the academic performance
given by BNHS. Specifically, it seeks to answer the following questions. First, to what
extent would student addictiveness to social network influence their academic
performance? Second, how has the use of social media influence the academic
performance of senior high school students in Butig National High School?

To achieve the above stated purpose of this study, the descriptive method is used to
utilize and analyze the answers of the 100 random selected respondents in
accordance with their perception on the impact of social media to the academic
performance in BNHS. The respondents are selected using purposive sampling
technique. Respondents are the currently studying in BNHS for the school year
2023-2024. The criteria of the researchers are (1) enrolled in Butig National High
School campus, (2) a senior high school student and (3) using Social Media.
Respondents are selected as match the needed criteria while some of them are
removed if they don't match the needed criteria for the research. This is quantitative
research particularly non-experimental method. This used standardized test
questionnaires adopts from the research paper of Peter Osharive (2023) entitled
“Social Media and Academic Performance” therefore, the researcher recommends
this study to the following person. To the head 9f the school study provides the
electr9nic devices connected t9 the internet access as much as possible based on
the recorded data from the respondents that rue social media has a lot to do with the
improvements of the students to their academic performance. To the teachers must
be informed with the involvement of social media that is one of the impacts on
student searching for in terms of gathering information and knowledge. To the
students must keen enough to know and to ignore the unnecessary things to
prevents affecting their academic performance, the proper use of social media that
can bring impact top their academic performance. To the Future Researchers must
provide more information and proof that this platform Facebook, messenger and etc.
is one of the great impacts of the academic performance of the students. By
choosing third research title as well that has been issued, it provides and adds
knowledge to their research related to this subjects.by choosing this research tittle as
