A Semi Detailed Plan in English 8

SY 2024-2025 FIRST QUARTER

I. OBJECTIVES

A. Content Standard
The learner demonstrates understanding of: African literature as
a means of exploring forces that human beings contend with;
various reading styles vis á vis purposes of reading; prosodic
features that serve as carriers of meaning; ways by which
information may be organized, related and delivered orally and
parallel structures and cohesive devices in presenting
information.

B. Performance Standard
The learner transfers learning by composing and delivering an
informative speech based on a specific of interest keeping in
mind the proper and effective use of parallel structures and
cohesive devices and appropriate prosodic features, stance and
behavior.

C. Learning Competency
EN8V-Ia-10.2 Determine the meaning of idiomatic expressions
by noting context clues and collocations.

D. Specific Objectives
a. Define what is idioms/Idiomatic expression
b. Identify the meaning of idioms

B. Motivation “Guess Me”


The teacher will pick 3 volunteers and flash two images in the
screen and the student will guess what idiomatic expression is it.
List of idiomatic expressions

2. Piece of cake
C. Lesson Proper
The teacher will start the lesson by discussing the topic and
provide explanations followed by examples. The teacher
will also use PowerPoint presentations to show the lesson to
the students and to have a better understanding of the
topic.

You have been studying words in relation to their literal or


dictionary meanings. However, there are expressions in English
whose meanings are not the combined meanings of the
individual words that form the expressions.

The teacher will divide the class into three groups and they will
