DEMONSTRATION TEACHING
I. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES
Teacher: Good morning, class!
(Learners respond: “Good morning, Ma’am!”)
Teacher: Before we start, let’s begin our day with a prayer.
(Lead short prayer)
Teacher: Now, let’s check the attendance. Secretary, who is absent today?
(Secretary reports)
Teacher: Thank you! Now, let’s go over our classroom rules. Repeat after me:
Raise your hand before speaking.
Listen carefully when someone is talking.
Be kind to your classmates.
(Learners repeat each rule)
Teacher: Great! Let’s get started.
II. REVIEW / ELICIT
A. REVIEW
Teacher: Do you remember our lesson yesterday about reading numbers and matching them with number
words?
Let’s do a quick review activity!
(Display numerals and number words on board or projector)
I. Activity: Match the number to its word.
Directions: Draw a line to match the numerals with the correct written words.
Teacher: Who can match the number to the correct word?
(Call one learner to draw a line)
Teacher: “Very good!”
II. Read the number words below.
(Learners will read the given number words.)
B. ESTABLISHING A PURPOSE FOR THE LESSON
Teacher: Now, let’s get ready for our new topic. But first, we’ll sing a fun song!
(Play the “Greater Than, Less Than, Equal To” song. Encourage the class to sing along
and do simple hand motions.)
Teacher: Now, class, who remembers the three important symbols from the song?
(Call on learners)
Teacher: Correct! Greater than (>), less than (<), and equal to (=).
III. LESSON PROPER (ENGAGE)
C. PRESENTING EXAMPLES/INSTANCES OF THE NEW LESSON
Teacher: We are going to compare numbers today using these symbols. Let’s play a quick game called
Show Me the Number!
(Show two numbers using flashcards or a slide: 4 and 7)
Teacher: Which number is bigger?
(Learners respond)
Teacher: Yes, 4 is smaller than 7. So which symbol should we use?
(Learners: “Less than!”)
Teacher: Exactly! 4 < 7
(Teacher continues with other examples.)
IV. EXPLORE
D.DISCUSSING NEW CONCEPTS AND PRACTICING NEW SKILLS # 1
Teacher: Let me show you more examples. And this time, we will be using the crocodile head.
Title: Comparing Numbers with Symbols!
(The teacher will introduce and demonstrate how to use the relation symbols <, >, and = to compare
numbers up to 20.)
Teacher: Look here: I have 5 oranges and 9 oranges. Which group has more?
(Teacher will call a learner and let him/her think of the correct symbol. He/she will move the crocodile head
to make it less than, greater than, or equal to)
Teacher: Very good!
Teacher: Next, look at these cupcakes. Each has 1 candle. What symbol do we use?
(Learner will answer)
Teacher: Yes! 1 = 1
(Teacher will continue with the other examples.)
E. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills # 2
Group Activity
First Group Activity
Activity 1: Jump and Compare
Teacher: Now, we’ll play a movement game. This activity is called “Jump and Compare.” I’ll place number
cards on the floor. You’ll jump onto two cards, then tell the class which number is greater or if they’re equal.
(Call students one by one to play and they will pick the correct symbol (<, >, or =).)
Second Activity
Activity 2: Compare and Color
Teacher: Now go to your seats. Here’s a worksheet. Count the pictures next to each number pair and color
it. Also write the total number of pictures in the box provided. Then, draw the correct symbol between them.
(Distribute the worksheets and assist as needed)
V. EXPLAIN
F. DEVELOPING MASTERY
Teacher: Let’s do another activity!
Let’s play Number Showdown!
(Mix number cards on a table)
Teacher: Each pair will take turns. Draw two cards, compare them, and use the correct symbol. Then say
the sentence aloud or sign it.
Example:
(Learner picks 7 and 14)
Learner: “7 is less than 14. So, 7 < 14.
Teacher: Very good!
VI. ELABORATE
G. FINDING PRACTICAL APPLICATION OF CONCEPTS AND SKILLS IN DAILY LIVING
Teacher: Let’s do another activity.
Activity: Grocery Store Showdown!
Teacher: I have cards showing groceries and their quantities.
(Display cards: Apples – 4, Bananas – 9, etc.)
Teacher: Pick two items and compare them. For example:
‘4 apples < 10 eggs’ → Four Apples are less than Ten Eggs.
(Let learners take turns. Encourage complete sentences.)
(Teacher continues with the other grocery items.)
H. GENERALIZATION
Teacher:
What did we learn today?
How do we compare numbers?
What symbols did we use?
(Guide learners to respond clearly)
Teacher: Now, complete the sentence: ‘Today, I learned that…’”
(Call on volunteers)
Example: “Today, I learned that 12 is greater than 9.”
VII. EVALUATE
Teacher: This time, let us check your understanding of the lesson through an assessment.
(Teacher will distribute the distribute the assessment test.)
(Monitor and check for understanding)
VIII. EXTEND
J. ASSIGNMENT
Teacher: Draw three pairs of numbers and write the correct symbol between them. Write this on your
notebook.
Closing
Teacher: You did an amazing job today! I saw how well you compared numbers using greater than, less
than, and equal to. See you tomorrow! Bye.
