‘Bonds of Bravery: Friendship That Freed a Nation’
7. Friendship Day – -SHREYA
Friendship Day is a beautiful reminder of how friends make our lives brighter, happier, and
meaningful. It is celebrated around the world to honour these special people who stand by
us through good times and bad times, sharing laughter, secrets, and countless memories.
True friends are like the family we choose for ourselves. They give us courage when we
feel weak, hope when we feel lost, and joy when we feel low.
Today let us portray the friendship between three freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Shivaram
Hari Rajguru and Sukhdev Thapar.
8. How do they go together? -KAVISH
In the Indian freedom struggle, friendship and freedom were deeply linked because revolutionaries
like Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev stood together not just as allies but as true friends.
Their trust and unity gave them the courage to face prison and death without fear. Their bond
inspired millions to come together across caste and religion for India’s independence.
While studying at National College, Bhagat Singh joined the Hindustan Republican Association.
There he met Shivaram Hari Rajguru and Sukhdev Thapar… And thus the friendship began. In
1926, Bhagat Singh founded the Naujawan Bharat Sabha and popularised “Inquilab Zindabad.”
Scene 1: Jallianwala Bagh — The First Spark
[Setting: A ground with bullet holes on walls. Sounds of gunfire, fading into silence. Young
Bhagat Singh kneels, gathering blood-soaked soil.] PPT
Narrator (Upasana): April 13, 1919; Jallianwala Bagh, Amritsar. The Jallianwala Bagh Massacre
had turned the whole ground into a graveyard for the innocent. A twelve-year-old boy named
Bhagat Singh stands amongst the dead.
Young Bhagat Singh (UPASANA- VOICEOVER / Atharva Mohan): So much blood... so
many lives ended for wanting to speak freely? They think they can scare us into silence!? This soil
will remember. I promise I will fight; fight until this land is free again.
Scene 2: The Revolutionaries Unite
[Setting: National College, Lahore. Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, and Rajguru sit cross-legged
with posters and leaflets.] PPT
Narrator: (Jhanvi)
At National College, Bhagat found brothers whose hearts burned like his own.
Sukhdev: (Aatreyo Bhattacharya / Voiceover: Aaradhyaa)
Bhagat, you know what I like best about you? You dream big — and you make us believe it’s
possible.
Bhagat Singh: (Siddhran Chatterjee / Voiceover: Siddhran goswami)
And Sukhdev, you keep me grounded when my head floats in slogans! Listen — the Hindustan
Republican Association needs more than guns. It needs our trust in each other, our shared dream.
Rajguru: (Hardik Shyamsukha ? Voiceover: Rishan Mondal)
Then let’s call it what it truly is — Hindustan Socialist Republican Association! For workers,
farmers, students — all of us!
Sukhdev: (Aatreyo Bhattacharya / Voiceover: Aaradhyaa)
From today, we’re not just comrades — we’re brothers. Your fight is mine, mine is yours. No one
stands alone.
Bhagat Singh: (Siddhran Chatterjee / Voiceover: Siddhran goswami)
And when they silence one of us, our friendship will keep the revolution alive. Inquilab Zindabad!
Long live this bond — and the revolution!
Scene 3: Lala Lajpat Rai’s Martyrdom
[Setting: Silent March with banners: “Simon Go Back”. Voice of Lala Lajpat Rai echoes.
Bhagat Singh watches, fists clenched.]
Lala Lajpat Rai (Soham Sannyal / Voiceover: Shivansh Pani): When the Simon Commission
comes without a single Indian voice, we must greet them with silence. Silence that speaks our
defiance!
Narrator (Suditi): But the Superintendent of Police, James A. Scott, ordered a brutal lathi charge.
Lala Lajpat Rai was struck down; a hero silenced by cruelty.
Bhagat Singh: (Siddhran Chatterjee / Voiceover: Siddhran goswami)
They struck an old man to death — a man who spoke only with silence. I swear, Scott will pay for
each bruise on Lala ji’s body.
Rajguru: (Hardik Shyamsukha ? Voiceover: Rishan Mondal)
And you won’t be alone. We’ll stand by you — whatever happens.
Sukhdev: (Aatreyo Bhattacharya / Voiceover: Aaradhyaa)
Your anger is ours too, Bhagat. We don’t run from danger — we walk into it together.
Scene 4: The Mistaken Bullet
[Settings: Dim alley. Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev crouch with pistols. Footsteps
echo. A shot rings out. Saunders falls.]
Narrator (Suditi): Their plan was to strike Scott — but in the shadows of that alleyway, the bullet
found the wrong man.
Sukhdev: (Aatreyo Bhattacharya / Voiceover: ) We wanted Scott... not Saunders. But
the message remains the same we will not kneel.
Bhagat Singh: (Siddhran Chatterjee / Voiceover: )
They can hunt us, hang us, brand us as terrorists but each drop of our blood is another voice crying
for freedom. And voices cannot be killed.
Scene 5: The Assembly Bombing
[Setting: Central Legislative Assembly, Delhi. Bhagat Singh and Batukeshwar Dutt stand
with bombs.]
Narrator (Rudraman Ghosh): Next, to awaken a slumbering nation, they hurled bombs into the
heart of British power but aimed only at their arrogance.
Bhagat Singh: (Siddhran Chatterjee / Voiceover: ) This blast is our cry against your
unjust laws! You can jail us physically! However, our minds will break your chains! Inquilab
Zindabad! Long live the revolution!
Scene 6: Legacy
Narrator (Jhaanvi): March 23, 1931. Lahore Jail. Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev Walk to
the gallows with songs on their lips. They fall so that India may rise.
All: Inquilab Zindabad! (From Gallery)
