June 14, 2024

A. Explain how implementing a professional growth plan can help you improve your
instructional practice by promoting both the academic and nonacademic success of all
students.
Using a professional growth plan will improve my instructional practices in many ways.
Student learning styles are ever-changing so our teaching styles should accommodate that.
Implementing a professional growth plan will allow me to keep myself accountable and
focused on the goal. A professional growth plan is a roadmap that guides your continuous
improvement. Ensuring that I stay up to date on the most recent research based teaching
strategies, this will help my student in both academic and nonacademic learning.

B. Identify one nonacademic need that your students have.

One nonacademic need my students have is self-regulation

C. Develop a professional growth plan to address the nonacademic need in Part B that
will help you grow as an educator by doing the following:
1. Identify a long-term goal focused on your professional learning that will help
address the nonacademic need from Part B. Your goal should include the following
components:
• measurable: I will measure this goal by learning three new strategies to implement
for self-management.
• time-bound: This long-term goal will be completed by the end of the 2024-2025
school year (May 20, 2025).
• actionable: I will attend social-emotional learning professional development classes,
or participate in research, that focus on self-regulation, until I learn three new strategies
to implement in my classroom.
a. Explain how the long-term professional goal from Part C1 will help you address
the nonacademic need from Part B.
This professional goal will allow me to better understand social emotional learning
strategies. In return, these strategies will assist in teaching my students self-management
skills.

2. Identify three short-term goals that will help you achieve the long-term goal from
Part C1. Each of the three goals should include the following components:
Goal 1: Learn and implement one research based self-regulation strategy by the end of
the first quarter (October 15, 2024).
Action: Attend the “Strategies for Social-Emotional Learning” class on August 24,
2024.
(52 Days)
Goal 2: Learn and implement one research based self-regulation strategy by the end of
the second quarter (December 20, 2024)
Action: Locate and read three articles that include research-based strategies for self-
management from the CASEL website by November 1, 2024.
(50 Days)
Goal 3: Learn and implement one research based self-regulation strategy by the end of
the third quarter (March 8, 2025).
