CELPIP Speaking Task Templates

Task 1: Giving Advice

"Hi [Name], I recently heard that you’re dealing with [situation], and honestly, I can
completely understand why you’re feeling confused or unsure about what to do next."

Firstly, if I were in your place, I would suggest you try [advice], mainly because it can really
help you save time and avoid unnecessary stress, which I believe would make your
situation much easier to handle."

To add to that, another option you should definitely consider is [advice], as this choice not
only gives you more flexibility but also opens up better chances for success in the long
run."

"Moreover, what I personally feel is that you could also think about [advice], because it can
provide you with more comfort and peace of mind, which I’m sure you’ll really appreciate
later on."

"In fact, many people in your situation often choose this path, and it usually works out well
for them, so it might work for you too."

In the end, I truly hope that my suggestions help you make a smart and comfortable
decision, and remember, no matter what choice you make, things will surely get better

Task 2: Talking About a Personal Experience (60 seconds


speaking time)
"I’d like to share a wonderful memory from my life, which was truly unforgettable, as it gave
me both happiness and a new way of looking at things."

"One of the most exciting experiences I’ve ever had took place during my school holidays
when I got the chance to visit [place], and honestly, it’s still fresh in my mind."

This memorable event happened a couple of years ago, during the summer holidays, when
I was visiting [place], which is one of the most beautiful and peaceful places I’ve ever seen.
At the beginning of the day,

This special day taught me a valuable lesson – to always appreciate the little moments in
life, as they create the most lasting memories. All in all, it was a day that made me feel
closer to my loved ones and left me with memories that I’ll treasure forever.Even today,
when I think about that experience, I feel inspired and thankful, as it truly changed my
perspective towards enjoying life.

Task 3: Describing a Scene (60 seconds speaking time)


This picture shows a [general scene, e.g., bustling city street, peaceful park, chaotic
classroom].

The image depicts a [type of setting] with a lot of [activity/elements] happening.

Foreground: "In the foreground, I can clearly see..." / "Closest to the viewer, there is/are..."

Midground/Center: "In the center of the image, we can observe..." / "Moving towards the
middle, there appears to be..."

Background: "Further back, in the background, one can notice..." / "Towards the rear of the
scene, it looks like..."

Left/Right: "On the left side of the picture..." / "To the right of [object], there is..."

People/Objects: Describe their actions, appearance (clothing, expressions), and


interactions. Use descriptive adjectives (e.g., vibrant, serene, cluttered, busy).

Overall, the entire scene gives a very lively and cheerful feeling, as there are so many
people engaged in different activities, and everything looks full of energy and happiness.

Task 4: Making Predictions (60 seconds speaking time)


Looking at this picture, I can see [briefly describe the current situation/action].
"The scene currently shows [main elements/activity]."

Make 2-3 Predictions with Justification (40-50 seconds):

Prediction 1:

Based on what I can observe, I think it’s very likely that [prediction], as people in the image
seem to be preparing for that. This is because [reason / logical guess], which makes me
believe this will happen soon.

Prediction 2:

In addition to that, I strongly believe that [second prediction] will take place. The reason is
that [supporting detail from image], and it looks like the situation is heading in that
direction.

Conclusion-

Ultimately, I believe that everything will go well, judging from what’s happening right now. It
will be interesting to see how this unfolds.

Task 5: Comparing and Persuading (60 seconds speaking time


per part)
Part 1: Choosing an Option & Justification (60 seconds)

State your Choice Clearly (5-10 seconds):

"After careful consideration, I've decided to go with [Option A/B]."

"I think the best option for us would be [Option A/B]."

Provide Reasons for Your Choice :

Reason 1: "My primary reason for choosing this is [reason]. This offers a significant
advantage because [explanation]."

Reason 2: "Moreover, [Option A/B] also provides [another benefit]. For instance,
[example]."

Reason 3 (if time): "Additionally, when we consider [aspect], [Option A/B] clearly stands
out."
Conclusion :

"For these reasons, [Option A/B] seems like the most logical and beneficial choice."

"I hope I've been able to convince you. What do you think?"

Task 6: Dealing with a Difficult Situation (60 seconds speaking


time)
"Hi [Name], I’m really sorry to bring this up, but I need to inform you about [briefly state the
difficult situation]."

"Hello [Name], I need to discuss a rather unfortunate / challenging / sensitive matter with
you."

"I’m calling to explain a situation that has recently arisen / come up, which requires your
understanding."

Explain the problem:

"Unfortunately, due to [unavoidable circumstances / a scheduling conflict / budget


restrictions], we have to [cancel / postpone / change] [the event / meeting / plan]."

"Regrettably, because of [reason], it has become necessary to [state difficult decision]."

Provide justification:

"This wasn’t an easy decision to make, but it’s essential because [explain reason – time
constraints, health issues, safety concerns, etc.]."

"If we didn’t make this change, it could lead to [greater inconvenience / financial loss /
safety risks / further complications]."

"I want to assure you that this decision was made after careful consideration."

"I completely understand that this news might be disappointing / frustrating / inconvenient
for you."

"I realize this may come as a surprise / letdown, and I appreciate your patience."

"To make up for this, we could [reschedule / offer a refund / arrange an alternative plan]."
Apology & Call to Action (5–10 seconds)

"Once again, I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience / disruption this may cause."

"Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns."

"I hope you can understand the situation, and I truly appreciate your patience and
cooperation."

"Thank you for your understanding."

Task 7: Expressing Opinions (90 seconds speaking time)


State Your Opinion Clearly (5-10 seconds):

"In my opinion, I strongly believe that [your stance on the issue]."

"I think it's crucial that [your opinion] because..."

"From my perspective, [your opinion] is the most logical approach."

Support with 2-3 Main Points & Elaborate

Point 1: "Firstly, one significant reason for my opinion is that [reason]. To elaborate, [further
explanation/example]."

Point 2: "Secondly, it's also important to consider that [reason]. For instance, [specific
example/anecdote]."

Point 3 (if time): "Furthermore, [another reason]. This highlights how [explanation]."

Concluding Summary (5-10 seconds):

"Therefore, based on these points, I firmly stand by my belief that [restate opinion]."

"All in all, I think [opinion] is the most effective/beneficial way forward."

Task 8: Describing an Unusual Situation


"Hey [Name], you won't believe what I'm looking at right now!"
At first glance, this picture looks like a normal, everyday scene, but when you look more
carefully, you can clearly notice something quite strange and unexpected happening in the
middle of it."

"It’s a scene that appears completely ordinary in the beginning, but after a moment, you
realize that [describe the strange thing] is happening, which immediately catches your
attention."

What makes it even stranger is that [explain why it’s unusual], because normally, in a
situation like this, you would never expect to see something like that.

In fact, around this strange element, I can see [describe other normal elements], which
really creates a sharp contrast and makes the unusual detail even more noticeable.

Honestly, it’s such a bizarre sight that I had to look twice to believe it.I’ve never seen
anything like this before in real life! It really makes you stop and wonder why or how
something like this could happen.
