Two Evenings Top
by @loveknit.nl
The Two Evenings Top is a very easy top to make in just a few evenings. The everyday fit
is perfect for all kinds of outfits. The top is worked bottom up and starts with a ribbed
hem. The body is knit in the round in stockinette stitch to armholes. Then the front and
back are divided to work each separately. The straps are joined seamlessly using grafting.
This top is designed with negative ease at the bust.

p purl
k2tog From the RS: knit two stitches together
p2tog From the WS: purl 2 stitches together on the WS.
skp From the RS: slip 1 stitch knit-wise, k1, pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch.
p2tog tbl From the WS: purl two stitches together through the back loops.
st(s) stitch (stitches)
RS right side of your work
WS wrong side of your work
[] repeat instructions
ES edge stitch: (RS): slip first stitch knitwise with yarn in back, and knit last stitch,
(WS): slip first st purlwise with yarn in front, and purl last stitch.
Decreases
Decreases are worked so they either slant to the left (skp) or slant to the right (k2tog).
Decreases are worked as follows:
Left leaning decreases:
Skp: From the RS - slip 1 stitch knit-wise, k1, pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch.
P2tog tbl: From the WS - purl two stitches together through the back loop.
Right leaning decreases:
K2tog: From the RS - knit 2 stitches together.
P2tog: From the WS - purl 2 stitches together.
The stripes
The stripes are 3 rounds in the stripe color and 10 rounds in the main color. When changing colors, let the
yarn you are not using run up the WS of the work – this way you avoid having to weave in so many ends at
the end.
To avoid the little “step” or jog that happens when changing colors. See video instructions at
https://www.thesprucecrafts.com/changing-colors-in-knitting-2116378
Crossing stitches
Crossing stitches: one way to avoid a hole on a vertical opening in knitwear. See instruction at

Grafting
Grafting (or the Kitchener Stitch) is a beautiful stitching that simulates knitting and purling and gives you a
seamless and smooth closure for your knits. See video instructions at
