Mercedes-Benz Actros - Gearbox ECU (Coordinator / GS Control Unit)
Models: MP2 & MP3 (2003-2012)
Gearbox: PowerShift 2 or 3, gearbox codes 715.3 / 715.5
Main Function of Coordinator (GS ECU):
- Controls gear shifting commands
- Coordinates engine, clutch and gearbox
- Communicates with engine ECU and other systems via CAN-Bus
Installation Location:
- Mounted on gearbox body, right or left side of chassis
- Inside waterproof metal box
Key Components in Wiring Diagram:
A16 or A15: GS ECU - main gearbox control unit
B60: Gear Sensor - detects gear position
B61: Gate Sensor - detects gear stick position
B62: Splitter Sensor - detects splitter status
B63: Range Sensor - detects range status
B2: Clutch Position Sensor
B3 & B57: Speed Sensors - gearbox input/output speed
Y1-Y4: Shift Cylinders - electro-pneumatic cylinders for shifting
Power & Electrical Connection:
- Main power from fuse Tml.30 (constant) and Tml.15 (switched)
- CAN-Bus connection to engine ECU and other modules
- Ground wires to chassis
Main Wiring Routes:
1. ECU to sensors (B60-B63): send/receive gear signals
2. ECU to solenoids (Y1-Y4): shifting commands
3. ECU to engine ECU via CAN-Bus: synchronize engine speed
4. ECU to clutch: manage clutch open/close
Basic steps to remove and install Coordinator (GS ECU):
- Disconnect battery
- Remove ECU cover on gearbox
- Carefully disconnect plugs and clean
- Unscrew ECU mounting bolts
- Install new/repaired ECU and tighten bolts correctly
- Reconnect plugs and check for oil/water leaks
- Perform Teach-in process with diagnostic tool
