Catalog Course Description:


Overview of computers and computing. Introduction to a typical programming language,
such as Java. Basic data types and operators. Basic object-oriented concepts. Wrapper
classes. Console input/output. Logical expressions and control structures. Memory
models and methods. Arrays and strings. More object-oriented concepts.

Textbook:
“Absolute Java” by Walter Savitch, Addison Wesley, Second Edition, 2006

Notes:
 Lectures and labs are integrated and they complement each other.
 Cheating will be reported to the Department Chairman.
 Attendance will be checked at the beginning of each class.
 Each 2 Late attendances will be considered as one absence.
 An official excuse must be shown within one week of return to classes.
 Absence of more than 6 hours will result in a DN grade.
 ½ % will be deducted for each lecture absence.
 1% will be deducted for each lab absence.
 No make-up of Labs, Quizzes, Assignments and Exams.
